Lionsgate Acquires 'Train', MPAA Scores Film NC-17!

We just received word that Lionsgate has acquired Gideon Raff's Train, the quasi-remake of the Jamie Lee Curtis starrer from 1980 TERROR TRAIN. No word yet on if the film will hit theaters or go direct-to-DVD/Blu-ray, but what we did learn is that the MPAA awarded the film with an NC-17. Raff, who also penned the film, will be heading back into the editing bay to trim the film for an R-rating. I guess we can expect an awesome unrated DVD release in the future? For those of you in Los Angeles, you're in luck, you can check out the NC-17 version of film at next month's Screamfest on Thursday, October 16th. Click here to grab your tickets. In Europe, a group of American college athletes unknowingly board a train that will become one deadly ride.

I'm glad we're finally going to get to see it, but at the same time I remember the trailer not looking so great. We'll see.

thedescent08, did you even read the article? They are trimming it down to an R rating.

What spineless, lack-of-any-balls studio cut this down to an R rating. Oh yes, Lionsgate again. Shit, I'm still trying not to fall asleep while watching their "6 Films to Keep You Awake" dvd. Didn't Lionsgate put out that awful Seed movie with all those scenes of real animals being tortured and killed? And what's with that title "Train"? It's fucking "Terror Train"!

Jesus, you whiners can't be serious. Do you think Lionsgate (or ANY distributor) is going to buy a horror film in order to lose money? You can't get an NC-17 movie into theatres. Simple as that. You can cry about them not having balls or whatever, but to just have no brains and think they're going to releasean NC-17 movie? You're fucking stupid.

Kabukiman; I thought this was going straight to dvd and not to theaters. So I would like to change my comment if I may. My new comment is - "those stupid fucks at Lionsgate already showed their lack of balls by downgrading the release of Midnight Meat Train from regular theaters to only a couple of budget theaters; now they want to try to fuck this movie up too". Please accept this new comment in place of my previous one. :)
