Bloody-Disgusting learned that US production company The Film Department is currently seeking writers to pen a remake of Luis Piedrahita and Rodrigo Sopeña's Spanish horror film, Fermat's Room (La Habitación de Fermat), which carries a very similar tone as SAW, only less violent. In the original, four math experts are pitched number-crunching time-tests in a contracting chamber by an unknown killer.
I think this movie sounds pretty interesting. I'm gonna have to check it out. BTW, I dont care whether it's a remake or not. If I dont like it, I wont watch it.
erm - that was meant to be "subtitles" - typing with one hand while looking after my little boy (not a euphamism).
Seriously, the original was pretty cool and tense, I can see the remake being too OTT...
I saw the original earlier this year. Yes it was sub-titled. I really enjoyed it and i'm surprised there aren't any reviews on bd. It is more of a thriller than straight horror but it is a great film. Check it out if you get a chance but hurry and watch it before the remake comes out.
