This past weekend Fridaythe13thfilms attended "The Scare Fest” in Lexington, KY, where they discovered some fantastic news from a Paramount Home Entertainment rep who was on hand. "A representative of Paramount stated that the upcoming release of FRIDAY THE 13TH on DVD would be fully restored and uncut including the extended sequences! Extended cuts already exist in Japan and a few other countries. But this will be the first time this footage has ever been released on DVD and restored." No word yet on what will happen with the other films, but we've got our fingers crossed Paramount will show us some f*cking respect.
Finally, my dreams have all come true. I concur with NixEclips, The New Blood needs more blood for sure. "I'll catch this bird for ya', & it ain't gonna be easy, bad fish"-----Quint.
I've already got the Warner Bros. UK disc which looks pretty good and has some nice extras, but I might be tempted if they release it on Blu-ray... FINAL CHAPTER would be nice, too...
They need to release Part 3 in 3-D. Bootlegs for alternating field (LCD shutter systems) sell constantly on eBay, and a real one would go over even better because it wouldn't be an nth generation bootleg.
If I were Paramount, I'd digitize 3 and get it out on digital 3-D screens for Halloween. You haven't seen it if you haven't seen it in 3-D, and it'd cost them about nothing to do a digital theatrical release.
Seen the uncut version on a bootleg. Pretty sweet. The part I remember best is the Bacon scene getting a couple of extra seconds. Didn't BD recently break the news that a whole new DVD set will be released with all the gory goodness?
so i wonder if the box set with just the first 3 friday films is still going to come out? or will they add the final chapter and more importantly will the uncut special edition of part one will be available separatly
OMG i remember growing up and watching the movies over....and over.... and over.... and I'm very excited to see what will come of this. ~fingers AND toes crossed~
Sounds kick-ass to me. Now all they have to do is get their dicks out of their asses and release My Bloody Valentine Uncut, also just in time for the remakes release!! I mean hey, at least some good is coming out of these remake shenanigans.
Upon the theatrical release of Friday the 13th in 1980, Paramount handled domestic distribution while Warner Brothers managed international exhibition. Immediately, Warner outshined Paramount by including slightly longer versions of the various death sequences (likely the fault of the stateside MPAA and not necessarily the fault of Paramount). No matter because, on DVD, Paramount released the same US theatrical version rather than elect to present the longer international cut, further infuriating fans. But, as with the theatrical version, Warner Brothers has also managed a European release of the Region 2 DVD, made available on September 29, 2003; this is the DVD for your collection, blood brethren. The disc contains the international/uncut version of the film, featuring the additional frames in each of the death sequences (Jack's death being most notable as it includes a previously cut extended overhead view of his demise). The transfer itself, an anamorphic widescreen presentation framed at 1.85:1, looks better than the stateside Paramount release.
Great quote Loomistheman !!! Here's one for ya': "Jason, it's all done Jason, you've done your job well & mommy is pleased"----Friday the 13th part II.
