SpookyDan stumbled on some big news at this week's TIFF. The Evil Dead Musical is coming to theaters in 3-D, according to Screen Daily! Creators Christopher Bond and choreographer Hinton Battle are set to co-direct the amazing adaptation of the stage play that has been running here in Toronto for a while. The film should go in front of the cameras in Toronto sometime next spring. "I got a change to see it last weekend," says Spooky. "For fans of the film, it's amazing, for non-fans, it’s a blood soaked comedy with some great music. The highlight song is called 'What the Fuck Was That?' " Watch for more details as they come in.
This was absolutely amazing! I have driven 6 hours to Toronto to see it twice so far. If it comes back next year, I would go again. It's unlike any theater experience you have ever had. The last time I braved a horrible blizzard in March to see it. It's absolutely a community experience. I don't know how it will do on a theater screen. It's funny as hell in the sold out Diesel Playhouse. I believe this year's run is or has come to an end, but if it comes back next year, go! I play and sing the soundtrack at the top of my lungs in my car fairly often and people just look. It's fantastic.
I saw this off broadway last summer and we loved it! A fan of the franchise and this was done well on stage. I can't wait to see it in 3D. GI Dan don't worry the music is a big part of the humor. I hope you love it.
I was going to bitch about this but everyone else here seems excited. I'm just not that into musicals. But I just remembered that the South Park movie was a musical and I liked that. So fuck it - I'll give it a chance.
Holy SHIT. For anyone who hasn't seen this, its so completely worth seeing. "What The Fuck Was That" is just such a hilarious song, along with a song in the second act, "All The Men In My Life Keep Getting Killed By Candarian Demons"
Actually this is perfect. The next time my girlfriend says "I'd like to see a musical" - I can throw this in. I wish they would do a musical version of Inside........
