Ramis Updates 'Ghostbusters 3' Possibilities

Let the speculations begin and watch as rumors turn into fact (kind of) as Harold Ramis responds to this past weeks monster Ghostbusters 3 announcement over at the Chicago Tribune. Inside you can read about the possibilities of Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson all returning, along with Sony's hopes to bring in the Apatow crew.

Ramis tells the Chicago Tribune:

"yes, columbia is developing a script for GB3 with my year one writing partners, gene stupnitsky and lee eisenberg. judd apatow is co-producing year one and has made several other films for sony, so of course the studio is hoping to tap into some of the same acting talent. aykroyd, ivan reitman and i are consulting at this point, and according to dan, bill murray is willing to be involved on some level. he did record his dialogue for the new ghostbusters video game, as did danny and i, and ernie hudson. the concept is that the old ghostbusters would appear in the film in some mentor capacity. not much else to say at this point. everyone is confident a decent script can be written and i guess we'll take it from there.
best,
harold
"

There you have it, word straight for the horses mouth. Hopefully the internet and fan base can help keep the heavy buzz alive or at least strong enough to get all four to return.

I heard basically the same thing on the radio, that the original Ghostbusters would be in the film but wouldn't be the main characters.

That seems to be the current trend, following the latest Indiana Jones. I would not mind that at all actually, as long as it has the fun factor and brilliant set pieces and characters of the first films

Rick Moranis won't be in it though and that kind of upsets me.

Yes we all know Rick Moranis has better things on his plate at the moment. haha!

Wait, isn't that exactly how the Extreme Ghostbusters cartoon was?

Please don't bring Seth Rogen and those other pubic-haired dickheads into this movie...ugh, no.

Rick Moranis quit acting after his wife died of cancer so he could spend more time with his family. I don't think it's fair to laugh at his career.

How about Seth Rogan as Sigourney Weaver's now adult son "OSCAR" (the baby from ghostbusters II) ? that's what i would put in this film if i had access to the apatow/rogan crew, it's definatly got to be a story about passing on the business or completely ending it, but knowing how studio's are, they would love to set up possible future ghostbusters movies with new actors taking over by being introduced in part 3 ...at least that's my thoughts... if bill murray isnt the main character like he was in the first two, it just wont work for me... and rick moranis retired from acting because he doesnt need money after making tons on the "honey I shrunk my career" movies...

Protecious
8:05pm, September 7, 2008

how about another possible character that will be a new ghostbuster of the future introduced in this part 3 could be a black actor playing ernie hudson's son, perhaps a terrance howard, or chris rock (but he's not that great of an actor) or even perhaps dave chapelle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol...like that would happen...

Protecious
8:09pm, September 7, 2008

a good twist in part 3 would be that oscar really was the child of bill murray, which they hinted in part 2 that it wasnt, but fuck it who cares... lets get the ball rolling before ramis or murray suffer a stroke or ramis' diabeties act up too bad to be moving around... ohhhh and also A CAMEO FROM THE SCI FI's GHOST HUNTERS Grant & Jason would be most hilarious and cool!!! i wanna see them put a proton pack on

It's gonna be lie the cartoons extreme ghostbusters which I enjoyed, well That's how I feel will be the direction that they will take.

Seth Rogan and Judd Apatow should not be allowed near this movie. Thier lame college humor is nothing at all like Ghostbusters 1 or 2. They just straight up aren't right for this. Just because some of you might like their other comedies, doesnt mean they should be in Ghostbusters. I love Wes Anderson comedies, but I wouldn't want him doing Ghostbusters either, because it's not his kind of humor. It's like the literal version of someone saying "What do the kids like these days? Whatever it is, put it in the next Ghostbusters flick." Why not put Dane Cook in the movie too? He's popular and his humor isn't at all like Ghostbusters either.

How about some of these choices (just tossing out names): JUSTIN LONG ("The Mac Guy", LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD) JOHNNY KNOXVILLE (If you don't know who he is...) KAL PENN (the HAROLD & KUMAR movies, etc.) JASON MEWES (snoogans) DAN BYRD (THE HILLS HAVE EYES remake) ARCHIE KAO (HILLS HAVE EYES 2, CSI) TOPHER GRACE SHAWN ASHMORE (Iceman in the X-MEN films) AARON STANFORD (Pyro in the X-MEN films) Just thoughts.

Unless I see Bill Murray saying "mother puss bucket" again in the new film.... I don't mind if they make some half ass new film with crappy modern references.. I will always have the first two movies as memories of my child hood and no one.. not even hollywood.. can take those away from me.

i agree with ya mama! wonder if sigourney weaver and annie potts would come back also?? would be great if they got everyone back. loved ghostbusters 1 and 2 and also the cartoons! says atleast annie will be apart of the video game.

Damn sorry Rick Moranis if what 'Justin Warren' said is true, then I feel like an ass. Still though you can't just sit around, and grieve lost loved ones. It's not what they would want you to do, plus it's unhealthy. So come back Sully!!! The Ghostbusters need you!!!

It would be great if Rick Moranis did come back, he was excellent in the others. "Somebody let me in!!!" I found home hilarious! Im very excited about this movie, should be good....i hope.....oh and yes, please keep seth rogen out of it, same for apatow, basically, they have made one BIG movie, every movie they do is the same old crap. Its gotten old already.

Never thought I would see the day when The Ghostbusters would just sit around smoking weed and calling each other gay for an hour and a half... super.

Ol' Annie Potts was pretty smokin'. I liked her in Who's Harry Crumb? also. I would've liked to have partaken in the sweet nectar, in the back of the ol' Ecto-1!!! "Let's show this prehistoric bitch how we do things downtown"-----Ghostbusters.

Isn't Jason from Ghosthunter's, the one that looks like Michael Chiklis (spelling?) I think they look very similar. On that note, so does Captain Sig (Deadliest Catch), & Dirk Nowitski (Dallas Mavericks). Sig looks like an older version of Dirk. "I want the crab count, & I want it now"-----Captain Sig.
