'My Bloody Valentine' in Mind-Blowing 3-D?

Ever since Lionsgate announced that their remake of My Bloody Valentine would be in 3-D I have been nothing but skeptical. But since then, I have heard loads of buzz from people who have seen dailies and 3-D tests who have all said that it looks tremendous. In fact, the new 3-D adds depth instead of just popping out at the audience, which I'm quite interested in seeing. Today a new interview with star Jamie King was posted where she talks about how Lionsgate will bring us INTO the remake, which was helmed by Patrick Lussier.

Those expecting to see just a straight-forward remake are in for a treat, as this version will not only be a 3D film, but also be shot in 4K – a new version of HD filming that’s taking movie-watching to a whole new level, according to MTV.

Normal HD is 2000 [pixels], [“My Bloody Valentine 3D”] is shot at 4000, and it’s done with 3D, so it’s not like random things flying at you. It’s literally the whole thing…you’re in the movie,” explained King. “Lionsgate’s doing a great job of being involved with these films that are really taking it to the next level, so I’m really excited about that.

King will be playing the aforementioned Palmer — who’s involved in a bizarre love triangle between her husband and a jealous ex-boyfriend, and the story revolves around a series of murders which took place during Valentines Day ten years prior. “It’s just the mystery around all of that,” said King. “But it’s really cool — it’s not just your normal gore, horror film. It’s very character-oriented.

So, in addition to blood and guts, Lionsgate is giving us the equivalent of a lapdance from a 40-foot-tall Jamie King? Sounds pretty f**kin' awesome to me!

Damn. I don't know if the theaters in the small city I live in can handle the new HD and much less 3-D. I wonder how it will come out in DVD! CHEESE AND CRACKERS!! I wanna see it now! DOUBLE PLEASURE IN FEB.-- Friday 13th and MBV 3D!!

Lionsgate mostly puts out crap. Once in a while they get lucky, but this one looks like a dud. A bad remake is a bad remake, reguardless of what gimmicks they use to sell it.

I´m 50/50 on this movie. It can be crap and I´m not super psyched for it but the fact that it´s in (non cheap) 3D and that you´ll be "in" the movie makes it interesting. I´ll wait for a trailer to make up my mind but I´ll watch out for this one. I´m more psyched about Final Destination 4 in 3D though(even though I´m not a huge fan of the other 3).

Why are we being told what we already know...? Anyway, Final Destination 4 will be wayy better, that's the one to keep an eye on! Apart from Avater!

I love the original film to death. I'm not really interested in the remake as I'm sure it will make the same pitfalls every other remake of the last ten years has. That being said, I'm willing to give it a shot, if only for the 3D aspect, but since a horror film, especially one about a manic miner gouging out people's hearts, has minimal mainstream appeal, I don't see it being released into alot of high-definition theatres (i.e. IMAX). Those outlets would sooner release yet another movie about the underwater aquatic. Now, maybe I'll be proven wrong, and alot of the 3D-equipped theatres WILL release it, but my gut tells me they won't, so there goes THAT appeal. What's left? Just another bland remake.

Betz1369, I'm so with you on that. I was a kid and saw the original in a drive in and loved it. However as an adult the movie is not that good and story is weak. With new writers and the latest in 3D technology, I hope this is a success and I will see it the minute it opens. P.S. shattered68 you're hilarious, good one.

I'm curious about this, but is anybody else with me in thinking that this a very strange choice of a movie to be chosen for 3-D filming?!

Agreed. This is indeed a weird choice for a 3D remake, but atleast it's a needed remake. I'm a huge fan of 80's horror but the old Bloody Valentine sucked. It had a great killer but it was terribly boring.

Im a fan of the original, but according to George Mihalka, the director of the first film, when he signed on he decided to just have fun with it and go over the top with the gore. Unfortunately, Paramount reigned it in and snipped most of the gore as their prone to do (just check their eviscerated version of Intruder compared to the Wizard 2000 disc to see what Im talking about) so the film was never seen as it was intendedThat may account for the boredom factor as Im sure that hurt the films pacing as well. That being said, Im looking forward to an old school slasher wih some blood and guts and glorious 3D. At the very least , if done right, it should be fun. I say bring it on

I don't know if they're going to change the setting for the remake, but I think 3-D would make scenes shot deep in a mine shaft twice as unnerving.

Jaime King in 3D. Sexy actress that is worth seeing.

I find Jaime too adorable to want to see her breasts but yeah 3D will be cool to see!
