Get ready for a slew of new release dates that just went out this afternoon. First, New Line Cinema has moved Final Destination 4 3D back a week to an August 21, 2009 release. Good news for you Richard Kelly fans out there as Warner Bros. Pictures has moved The Box - an adaptation of the short story "Button, Button" - from a September 11, 2009 release all the way up to March, 20, 2009 (finally one in our favor!). On to the bad news as MGM has removed the Dowdle brothers' The Poughkeepsie Tapes from their slate and will release on an undetermined 2009 date. Lastly, in an odd move, Eli Roth's Trailer Trash has been placed under N/A... has this project been cancelled? We'll find out more. Click any title above for more info on each film.
Great news about The Box, can't wait to see it, but really, whats going on with The Poughkeepsie Tapes? I saw a poster for it at one of my theaters in February, it really is getting a lot of neglect.
this is pure bullshit, mgm u suck release the poughkeepsie tapes already, i dont care if its on dvd just release it, and trailer trash being cancelled, wat has this world come to, anything eli roth does is pure genius, i am outraged ive heard him talking about this movie and been waiting for it for too long, hollywood is sooo lame they produce nothing but pure shit now especially mgm
i don't understand why the Poughkeepsie tapes are constantly being pushed back and whats even worse is I'm sure they'll have some stupid select theater release and i wont be able to see it anyway just like funny games.
I thought Eli Roth abandoned the idea of "Trailer Trash" some time ago, didn't he? He mentioned he was going to make his own PG-13 Cloverfield/Tranformers movie and moved on, if I remember correctly. Still, I would have loved to have seen "Trailer Trash". It was an entertaining and exciting idea.
The Poughkeepsie Tapes keeps getting pushed back because of the overwhelmingly negative reaction to it at Butt-Numb-A-Thon last year. Up to that point, it had some decent word of mouth going. I have a hunch we'll be seeing it on DVD next year (maybe next year...), rather than it getting a theatrical release.
Maybe New Line is waiting on FD4 for a year so that it can be on even more 3-D screens. The Journey to the Center of the Earth was only able to get about 800 or 900 screens in 3-D because there simply weren't enough. 1 year from now there will be quite a few more, especially since that movie did very well.
There's all kinda rumors.. Trailer Trash cancelled, Cell not happening and so on. Last thing I heard was him being in post production for TT and he wants to make a comedy or sumthin next. Would be nice to know the real deal for once.
The Poughkeepsie tapes has gotten some great reviews on horror websites - including this one. Release the fucker already. I'm not a big fan of the Final Destination films but I do know that a lot of people do like them.
This is not good news at all! I have been waiting for The Poughkeepsie Tapes to be released. Damn. FD4 will do well because of it's fan base and now in 3D to boot. I think Saturday the 13th may be right on this one.
I really want Trailer Trash and Poughkeepie Tapes. (I'm a big Eli Roth fan, and I loved the story behind "tapes.") I'll definately be seeing FD4 when it comes out, but I have a bad feeling that "Tapes" will go straight to DVD.
Ah! These date changes are driving me bananas! But I´m glad The Box is getting an earlier date, might be one of the best horror movies/thrillers next year with Friday the 13th, Wolfman etc. etc.
Shame about FD4 though but since I´m not a big fan of the originals(loved them when I was younger though) I´m not that sad about it getting bumped back but it just looked so awesome.
