This weekend we posted a very special exclusive chat with FX guru Greg Nicotero, co-founder of the infamous KNB Effects. We chatted briefly with Nicotero, who is hard at work prepping for Quentin Tarantino's INGLORIOUS BASTARDS, which begins shooting later this month. Click here to read the interview where Nicotero talks about his favorite films, what inspired him and much, much more.
It's NOT a remake. Quentin just happened to really like the sound of the origianl U.S. distribution title for Enzo G. Castellari's 'Quel maledetto treno blindato'. Compare the two scripts. The two films have virtually nothing in common whatsoever, apart from the the title and the WW2 theme. Anyone who claims otherwise has obviously never read the new script and compared it to Castellari's film.
All of Quentin's movies are remakes in some form or another. Remember the guy worked in a video store and his movies are basically his favorite parts out of every movie he has loved. He even said so nothin against the guy what so ever his movies are great and I cant wait to see this one the only movie he did that I wasnt crazy about was Jackie brown. Not a bad film just not his best. Oh and the dinner scene in Death proof went on for ever.
My point is that it's not a remake. He took a random U.S. distribution title from an Italian exploitation flick and tacked it onto his own ideas for a WW2 revnege thriller, but he took virtually nothing else from the Castellari picture. The script isn't merely "diffent", it has absolutely no relation to the other film aside from the title itself. It's A RINO. Remake In Name Only.
quentin just took the us distribution name of "Quel maledetto treno blindato", an italian exploitation war film. it's going to have influences of films like the dirty dozen and the great escape!
QT fuckin' rocks, can't wait "Inglorious Bastards"
greg nicotero is a hack! rich boy who couldn't cut it in medical school and dropped out to "make it" in the movie biz! he couldn't make a monster if his life depended on it!
Good interview! I love reading about this man. He's worked on so many of my favourite movies. This is the field of work I want to go into so he's definitely my inspiration.
