Arriving on DVD November 18th from Lionsgate Home Entertainment is THE DEVIL'S CURSE, which is a modern supernatural horror film that explores the dark side of the human psyche and the terror in facing up to one's darkest fears. Set in London, England, the film begins with a group of theological students who decide to test their faith by proving the existence of hell. Following their ritualistic summoning of a demon, the students are all found dead, apparently by suicide. Ten years later, five final-year students are evicted from their student digs and break into the now abandoned Catholic halls of residence for the weekend, only to discover that they're not alone.
Well, Lionsgate did have some balls for a few years and brought us some quality (Devil's Rejects, Hard Candy, ect). They started to lose their balls when they added that pussy-ish, money-grubing new ending to The Descent (which was done just so they could make a sequel). And they have slipped back to sucksville ever since. By the way, this whole two endings of The Descent is like a Democrats and Republicans thing, everyone is divided and won't budge on their beliefs. Can't we all just get along and agree that the original ending is better. :)
coldblood--i agree. i like the original ending the best. the theatrical one feels like they did it on purpose just to get Americans to like it more. and I meant that their DTVs are almost always bad, not their theatrical then DVD releases.
thedescent08-- that's cool you like that ending too, it ends the movie better. I mean; The Descent starts as a creepy and intense thriller, then turns into a really scary gorefest, then ends with a little mind f*ck. What could be better than that? As far as The Devil's Curse goes - I'm going to pass on that one myself too. Take care...
I saw a preview of this film in Europe (where it's called CREDO). It scared the hell out of me! Not too sure what was happening most of the time - but that's what made it so creepy. Bit like Blairwitch in that sense. Not sure why it's called the Devil's Curse in the States. Makes it sound a bit cheap and nasty - which it isn't!
There's nothing worse than generic titles. Fatal Attraction is the worst title of all time, but it's a great film. The Devil's Curse isn't an inspiring title. The film deserves much better than Lionsgate are attributing. btw I loved the descent. myanna buring was awesome in that and Credo, sorry, The Devil's Curse.
