This weekend we added our review of Lionsgate's 6 Films to Keep You Awake. The set features six chilling tales from the best horror directors from Spain. The compilation carries the terrifying films THE BABY'S ROOM, directed by Alex de la Iglesia (COMMON WEALTH), XMAS TALE, directed by Paco Plaza (WEREWOLF HUNTER), A REAL FRIEND, directed by Enrique Urbizu (BOX 507), TO LET, directed by Jaume Balaguero (THE DARK), SPECTRE, directed by Mateo Gil and THE BLAME, directed by Narciso Ibanez Serrador (1-2-3). Click the title for a review of each film and more. Go pick this one up ASAP!

Based on Mr. D's recommendation, other reviews, and the movie makers, I bought this dvd set sight-unseen (a rare thing for me). WOW!!!!!! What a great find this is and no one knows about it. If you liked The Orphanage, The Devils Backbone, Darkness, or The Others you will love this set of extremely well made, well acted and directed short films. Be warned, this are in Castilian Spanish with English subtitles (i.e. the "dreaded" and unmarketable foreign film), kinda of slow burners and require you to think - definitely a sophisticated set that blows away Masters of Horror and Fear Itself, as well as most of the year's commercial horror films.

Just to clarify for BETZ1369. This set (and it's title) is a continuation/homage to a 1964 Spanish series that producer/director Narciso Ibanez Serrador hosted in 1964. That series was titled Historias para no dormir (Stories to Keep You Awake). The first short in this series debuted in October 2005 (over a year before Lionsgate's first After Dark Fest which was in November 2006) so that "Here you go again...rip off" is actually directed at the wrong series of film! Just thought you'd like the facts.

Your loss as this is a solid set. Thanks for the recommendation Tex, I've only watched 2 so far and haven't been disappointed.

I didn't find the set to be anywhere near as great as some are making it out to be on here, but when watched in the order they are in on the 3 DVD's each film is better than the last. The last two films (The Baby’s Room & To Let) are the best and do save the set from being merely above average on the whole. Blame - a quite poor 3/10 Spectre - an above average 5/10 A Real Friend - a good 6/10 A Christmas Tale - a good 6/10 The Baby’s Room - a very good 7/10 To Let - a very good 7/10
