UPDATE: The official website reports that the film will still see a theatrical release. It looks as if OUTLANDER is getting dumped to DVD on November 18th, or at least it's listed on Amazon.com. In Howard McCain's period piece, during the reign of the Vikings, Kainan (Jim Caviezel), a man from a far-off world, crash lands on Earth, bringing with him an alien predator known as the Moorwen. Though both man and monster are seeking revenge for violence committed against them, Kainan leads the alliance to kill the Moorwen by fusing his advanced technology with the Viking's Iron Age weaponry.
That sucks I just read a review of a screening and they said it was good. Nothing spectacular but not bad by any means. I was really looking forward to seeing this in the theaters.
This makes me sick-to-my-stomach!! Damn!! Why?? It deserved so much more!! Why would they pump all that money and all those years and hardships into it, if they were just going to treat it like a 'Sci-Fi Original'?? There's nothing like experiencing a film like this with giant creatures on the big screen, but I guess we'll never know huh??
I got word today that the Weinsteins are contractually obligated to theatrically release Outlander. So even if they do dump it, it will still be on a few screens at least.
These companies make me sick. They finance edgy new films that don't usually follow any trend and when the films approach release the company wets their pants and destroys their own theatrical release. Diminishing any hope of recognition, success of accessibility throughout the world.
So it looks like BD was wrong and jumped the gun. Do you guys do any research before posting these stories? Simply looking at the official website for the film would have cleared this up before posting it.
