Mark Wahlberg for 'Virulents' Adaptation?

It was announced last August that John Moore would be bringing Virgin Comics' Virulents to the big screen. This weekend he told MTV he wants a Wahlberg to star. "“Mark [Wahlberg]. We had a hell of a time on MAX PAYNE. I think he’s an actor of unlimited potential and I’d just love to go around with him again. [But] we’re not in control of these things — lots of big people with big checkbooks get to do that. If it’s going to happen, then the karma makes it happen.” The story revolves around a ragtag group of soldiers who search for a lost patrol in Afghanistan. The soldiers, some from an American military unit, some from an Indian military unit, stumble into a nest of vampire zombies.

This sounds freakin awesome, i dont think ive ever seen vampire zombies before and if Mark Wahlberg is in it its got to be good. And since its based on a comic book the graphics should be allright also. Cant wait for it to come out which will be a while most likely.

Vampire zombies are actually somewhat "I Am Legend" (more so the original story rather than the Will Smith CGI version in which they never explain what the hell they are)

I hated the CG-zombies in "I am Legend". They screw up the whole film. Anyone here read the Virulents Comic and can maybe tell us if its any good? If so I might even cop that.

Woodland Critter, i agree w/ you %1000. the GODAWFUL CGI ruined any hope of that movie being slightly good (IMO). on Fangoria.com (a while back) they had pix of the original look of the creatures they were going to use. it was real people in veiny-translucent skin-costumes. they were effing AWESOME and SCARY looking. the "brilliant" director scrapped them and went CGI! what a dick.

The idea sounds pretty cool, I always did like the Vampire Zombie idea from The Last Man On Earth. I can just see where a movie about soldiers and vampire zombies could go cliche in seconds. I DO have faith in Wahlberg though.

What the hell is a "vampire zombie"??? Zombies that crave blood instead of flesh? Or day walking vampires that die with a shot to the head? The concept sounds silly!

I agree with ultrazilla2000, the idea of "vampire zombies" sounds as retarded as a movie about a chupacawolf (half chupacabra, half werewolf)!!! lol
