We received a call this morning where we learned that Warner Home Video will in fact be releasing Michael Dougherty's Trick 'r Treat (review) on DVD in the future, although no immediate plans have been made. What we found interesting is that we were told that the horror anthology will also play in a few theaters this October (see it in NY October 13), so a few lucky individuals will get a chance to check it out soon! For everyone else you can get hyped by picking up the Sideshow Collectibles toy, which is now shipping, or check out the incredible book that ships this September. More details on the release when they come in.
phibes*curse I actually liked Superman Returns. It wasn't awesome like 'Iron man' or 'The dark knight' but it was entertaining. But seriously I agree with slasher_12 this is insane. Almost every good horror movie is said to be released wide, then gets pushed back, then opens in only limited theaters, and then gets dumped to DVD. Is this the routine for every horror film? BTW if they want the film on DVD they could have just said that instead of going through this trouble. But I would have really paid to see this in theaters.
This is GREAT news!!! Put it on dvd and get it out to the people who want to see it rather than keep us in eternal october limbo. If it's a true cult hit, then expect midnight movie madness to ensue for many Halloweens to come. Whether the big screen or the medium screen in my living room sans texting tweens, get it out Warners!
korollocke, you're spot on w/ that! not that i'm against some of these remakes but it IS effed up that it seems ONLY the remakes (or sequels) are getting the wide release treatment.
I was really into seeing this, now it wont get released in aus for a few years. I mean See No Evil, and Black Christmas were released in the US in 2006 and they only came out on DVD in 2008 here. For Fuck sakes
Hollywood wouldn't know a good horror movie if it came up and slit their friggin' throats. Look at the stupid way they released "The Midnight Meat Train". I had to drive nearly an hour just to see that movie in a dollar theater for fucks sake.
whats with the Superman Returns hub bub? BRYAN SINGER was the DIRECTOR of that movie, and is only the PRODUCER here guys. Plus, even if he was the director, he also brought us Xmen 1 and 2...and The Usual Suspects. So dont hate
i agree with you slasher......lucky new york and ca people.....why not relsease these!?!?! y in the hell would you put trick or treat in dvd ESPECIALLY octobr uh halloween! horrors xmas month!....i agree with you stevendust
Finally, some progress. I was thinking I would go insane waiting for this movie. Get off Dougherty's back for Superman, he wrote the screenplay, not the story. In that position there is only so much one can do. By the way MrDisgusting, where can I get the info about a DVD release.
It's about time something happened with this film. I've been looking forward to it for over a year now since seeing the trailer. I had a feeling though that with all the theatrical release bull that it would probably go to dvd. I don't care, I just want to see if it's good or not already.
the trouble is big companys are scared of makin horror movies wide releases coz nothin original has happened 4 a while but omg they should just yake a gamble i wanna c this movie been waiting a whole year!!!
These studios can release stupid Disaster movie, date movie, meet the spartans etc .... which don't even break the top 5 in box office but they won't release a good halloween themed horror movie studios suck very large donkey balls
