I don't know WHAT to think about this. It's Mancini, the creator of the original Child's Play, but it's also a remake! Also, the bit about Brad confuses me. Is he or isn't he, cause the it seems like this interview both confirms AND denies Brad will reprise his role as Chucky.

magnaderalpha, i agree. i read the part about Brad Dourif like, 6 times trying to make sense of it. it IS or it's NOT going to be Brad. BD, can you guys clear this up please? i was never really a fan of the Child's Play movies (a puppet/toy just isn't scary to me), but i support the idea of trying to make Chucky scary again.

I thought it was pretty clear that Brad is back as Chucky. Like Mancini said, why replace him? I don't mind remakes as long as they have something to add to the story, and it sounds like this does. Also, I've been wanting another scary Child's Play since Part 3! I don't really like "Bride" or "Seed" and I was worried the series would never go back to it's roots. I honestly can't believe it, but the Creators ARE ACTUALLY LISTENING TO THE FANS ON THIS ONE! Personally I think this could be great. I think it would be cool to have Brad a little more in the start of the picture being heavily involved in the occult and satanism bunch of crazy shit. Plus having a little bit older Brad and more unhinged would be sic. Dont put him in as a robber have him be a serial killer more on the lines of how he was in the exorcist 3, that would be sic. However for the love of god no CGI!!!!! Use practical effects and minor and I mean minor! CGI only where its needed like hiding cables and rods thats it. Lot of potential here is what I think.

if BRAD DOURIF returns, and Don Mancini and David Kirschner also come back to make this film, I WILL GO SEE IT. Definitely, i want Chucky back so bad, i will take him in any way they giv em to us. Part 5 (Seed), was good but i felt disappointed in a way, hoping that it would be like the first 4, very dark, with a little comedy (thats chuckys personality) and takes itself serious, which is what i think part 5 lacked. An origin story sound awesome, lets see Brad Dourif (Charles Lee Ray in human form) killing some people! how cool is that, then Chucky killing people, couldnt get any better.

I hope it isn't PG 13. The original was R so if they want to make it scary again then they would have to make it R to succeed.

yeah, i agree about the PG-13 thing. of course i'm usually for R rated horror movies. the idea of a PG-13 Chucky movie is going to make this a COMEDY. if Chucky can't do some onscreen damage to his victims then it will be a (unintentionally) hilarious B-movie w/ basically a male Barbie doll running around. sounds like a Scary Movie idea.

Chucky is badass i'd like to see him on the big screen again, the fact that Mancini is doing it and Douriff is returning (i think, i'm confused on that 1 aswell) is positive but does anybody else feel that once everything has been remade and this remake hell is over we're just gonna get non-stop sequels again and again? We need some new original horror and some new horror icons!

Whats so scary about a doll? Yeah the first one scared me when it came out and I was 10. I'm glad they took it to horror/comedy. I loved bride/seed. I think this remake is a bad idea.

youre right, it doesnt need a remake. but from the industry's stand point, thats what the companies want, thats all people want to do, make remakes. Did you know? my friend has an intern position at a film company, and their job right now is to watch "old movies" and see if they should be remade. Child's play doesnt need to be remade, i want a PART 6 more than anything, BUT, if this is what the industry wants to do, lets hope for the best, the film is in good hands, the originators hands, and hopefully it will turn out like the good remakes that are not so much remakes, like Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Great that it was cleared up! If Brad returns, and Mancini's behind this, it could actually be a GREAT remake. I always say it like this, I'm in love with the original artistic interpretation that creators, themselves, wanted. Rarely do I like remakes or reboots. If someone from the original movie said, "Well, maybe I can do it again, aim to make it more scary" or "There were just things I wanted to do, but couldn't back then!", I'm all for that. Nobody knows the actual material MORE than the creators themselves. This is actually a remake I'd get behind!! ESPECIALLY with Brad! He IS Chucky!! That voice is so insane and PERFECT as far as voices go, it fits that doll down flawlessly.

This will be BAD. I'm not talking about bad a** I'm talking about it's going to be awful. No remake I've seen has ever done wonderful. They are all just stinkers. I'll make a bet with you the new remake will have tons and tons of violence and gore and lots of nudity/sex. Please let this be the classic.

hills have eyes remake was unnecessary, just like the omen remake. The Thing, Dawn of the Dead, Cape Fear, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre are good examples of great remakes. But if you think about it theyre not true remakes, except maybe 50 percent of Cape Fear. the others are pretty different from their originals.

As much as I'm for this with the originals on board...I still don't see the point. Can't they just resurrect Chucky once again, and leave out the comedy this time if that's what they're going for??? Why restart the series and invalidate all the fun installments that came before? Personally, I LOVED Bride and Seed of Chucky! I think if they're going to remake something in Hollywood, it should be Swamp Thing. The original rocked, but it's VERY outdated when watching now. Half these other movies being remade still hold up.

I think a remake/origin story is what the series needs. I personally thought Seed of Chucky just sucked, and Bride was decent in a black comedy way, Child's Play 3 was crap, but the first two were the best. I think there is definetly a fanbase for this franchise, and even if there isn't, once people start hearing about this that aren't hardcore horror fans, then they'll remember how scared they were in the 80's when they saw the original when they were like 10.
