TheDeadMayTasteBad, I went with a friend of mine who hates horror movies and is insanely squeamish. The first "gore" scene had him laughing. Throat slitting is so generic, done so many times, I don't see how people call it any more gory than a gunshot wound with a little blood. The only other gore scene in the movie was the jaw ripping scene, and as I said, it was no more graphic than what you've seen in the PG-13 rated The Grudge. Those were to kidsinmind.com where they rate the level of violence to inform parents, even THEY put The Dark Knight, PG-13, on the same level of violence/gore as Mirrors. Aja himself said MPAA gave him no problems with getting an R rating, and he used every bit of gore he wanted to use. The movie had no gore. If you're that much of a pansy to call a generic, non-graphic throat slitting gore, I can name PG-13 movies that you'd call over-the-top. And as much as people on this site hate PG-13 horror, sorry to say, this was just another one that somehow got an R rating. Alex Aja is nothing special. He's one of the most typical directors in the business, and his "gore" is always generic and boring. So much for horror supporting directors with balls.
