New Pics and Release Date For 'Twilight'

This week Warner Bros. pushed back their release of HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE, which left the pre-Thanksgiving weekend November 21, 2008 slot wide open for grabs. Who moved quickest? Summit Entertainment quickly snapped up the date for their adaptation of Twilight, which was originally slated for release December 21, 2008. Read on for more details and a few new (lame) stills from the vampire adaptation from Catherine Hardwicke.

"When Warner Bros. decided to move 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' to the summer of 2009, we saw a unique opportunity to slot in our film which has been gaining tremendous awareness and momentum over the past several months," Summit's Rob Friedman said.

Striking a respectful tone, Friedman added, "We by no means are trying to fill the shoes of the incredible Potter franchise for 2008, rather we are just looking to bring the fans of Stephenie Meyer's incredible book series the film as soon possible from a programming perspective."

The film is about a high school girl named Bella falls in love with a vampire. The new couple leads a rival vampire clan to pursue them and attempt to force her to decide if she, too, wishes to become one of the undead.

Oh shit, the people who read the book will quickly recognize the first picture, with the three vampires in baseball outfits from the famous game scene :) This looks really good, and I hope it translates well to the big screen. The book is amazing, and the other good thing about them moving the date up is that more room for THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL.

I'll be damned if it's not better than the Covenant and Blood and Chocolate; it just HAS to be. I know I'm going to like this movie; I have faith. Thanks for the news (even though you probably die a little inside every time you post something Twilight related *shrugs* :-/)

When I heard Kristen Stewart was gonna be in it, I read all of the books and I was surprised that they were actually good. And for the record, this isn't "90210 bullshit", and it is DEFINITELY not going to be anything like "The Covenant". That movie sucked. And if this is anything like the book, it'll be great.

I'm not interested. Romance with horror. Now that's just crazy. Although I do love Kristen Stewart. But despite that I will probably not go. If it has a couple of decent gore scenes and at least like a B or an A I'll see it. If it's a B- or anything below one word. NO.

I can already tell this will be better that blood and chocolate because they are actually following the book. B and C pissed me off cause it had nothing to do with the book.

The "90210 drama bullshit" comment made me laugh and feel bad for whoever wrote it. Millions of copies of these books have been sold, I believe that just proves how good they are. If it will translate well to the big screen, that's another thing. This is not a horror romance movie. It is a love story with vampires. That's it. And I just love how people keep comparing it to The Covenant.. seriously, if you want to compare it to anything, compare it TO THE BOOK.

Eh I could care less about Twilight and the stupid movie. I'm just here to state my annoyance [is that the correct spelling?] that HBP has been pushed back to the summer. And no, this isn't a sarcastic comment. I am totally 100% serious. XD

Damn, Harry Potter fans got screwed over time and time again. While Twilight fans got images, reels, and teasers early on, HP fans got very little and their movie pushed back...And then Twilight jumped at the chance to grab their slot. I don't take either of the series that seriously, so I can't help but laugh at the irony. It's no surprise some are taking it out on Twilight (it's very funny :-}, even though they should be more pissed at Watner Brothers; Twilight did the same, except that it was advantageous).
