When the MPAA Attacks DVD: 'Pathology' Cover Art Revised

If carrying the title Pathology (review) wasn't clue enough, the film is about the dead, and having a dead person gracing the cover of MGM/FOX's upcoming DVD release only makes sense. But apparently someone didn't think so as there has been a drastic revision for the upcoming release. Arriving September 23rd is the now tamer version that rocks commentary by Director Marc Schoelermann and writers/producers Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, a Conversation with Pathologist Craig Harvey, an “Unintended Consequences” music video by Legion of Doom vs Triune, and deleted & alternate scenes. Read on for the before and after of the art.

I definitely don't like it. The bottom part was the worst part of the artwork. It's too bad they couldn't get away with the top part. They should do something altogether different now.

So you people really care what the cover of the DVD looks like? I look at it for about 2 seconds. I know what movies I want and don't want and it's not based on the cover art. Who cares?

How do you know it was the MPAA? There's no evidence that I can find to support that. Your article says "someone" and there's nothing in your source that says it was the MPAA. Perhaps executives or someone behind the production changed the art. It happens from time to time. Besides, the art looks cluttered with the woman on the top in my opinion. But, that's beside the point. Let me know what you dig up because I'd like hard evidence it's the MPAA.

I don't think either cover is amazing, but the bottom is far worse. I think it has more to due with the half-nudity than the dead body. Whatever. MPAA is retarded.

I agree with the person who said that BD didn't provide any evidence that it was the MPAA. Either show some evidence (a link or something that states this) or stop whining. This site jumps to conclusions so often with movie news. When Ellen Page dropped out of Drag Me To Hell they accused her of "hating horror movies" or something like that. Actors drop out of films all the time. BD just decided to jump to conclusions since she had just won an award for Juno.

Was it really necessary to change the blood on his shirt to brown. What, have these coroners been rolling around in mud, or is that supposed to be fecal matter from the corpses? It may not be the MPAA, I'd say it would most likely be Walmart or Blockbuster threatening to not carry the movie with that cover.

Dam Poster sucks now!

I think the chick at the top of the first was kind of ridiculous; kind of like Turistas. But to remove most of the blood splatters from the scrubs... that's getting carried away. Now it looks like an ER comedy with Peter Petrelli holding a scalpel and looking ill.
