ok. this may be better... MAYbe. i just watched the tribe and i have to say there were some parts of the movie i didnt hate. there were actually some cleaver scenes and subtle tie ins to the original film (i.e. when Autumn Reeser's character wears sunglasses when going out) but the more blatant tie ins were just way too blatant. (the antler death)
One thing about this movie i really hate to admit ruins it, is corey feldmans edgar frog character. for some reason in this one he felt compelled to over act to the point of a christian bale batman voice... maybe its lack of practice but i remember corey feldman from the 80s as an actor who really played characters like they were. his best role being his character in "stand by me" but here, man he did a really bad job, and i was very dissappointed. Another thing i wasnt too fond about was the whole "a vampire can be killed by any sharp object piercing the heart" BS. ok, first of all you cant re-write hundreds of years of vampire folklore in a straight to dvd movie, and call a wooden stake to the heart a "myth". "any sharp object will do" ok so im going to take a tent anchor and kill this vampire that looks like he hasnt washed his hair in a year. sure. So anyway enought ranting. i only thing the 3rd film will be a success IF... the two coreys come back, as well as jason patrick, and diane wiest (who is the best actor out of the entire crew)and jami gertz would be nice, but not a must. and if he didnt die barnard hughes. anything else will just suck.
i actually wouldnt mind seeing a prequil about grandpa when he was younger, because as we all know, the last line in the original film was " One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach, all the damn vampires. " so he knew about this shit all along, lets see the adventures of grandpa!!!
