New Clips and Other Fun at 'Repo!' Website
Tuesday, August 12, 2008

If you missed out on the clip from Repo! The Genetic Opera before it was pulled off YouTube, you're in luck! We learned that the official website has been updated once again with two scenes from the actual film, a behind-the-scenes clip, a slideshow of REPO’s sold-out panel at Comic-Con, and footage from REPO’s world premiere at Fantasia Film Festival, where they took home an award for MOST INNOVATIVE FILM! In the not-so-distant future when an epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet, scientists gear for a massive organ harvest. A biotech giant comes up with easy organ payment plans, but all financed organs are subject to legal default, including repossession at the hands of repo men.

I really dont get the interest it's gonna be horrible. Everything that I have seen on this film is just garbage from the cast to the director with exception of Bill mosley pay check I understand. Otherwise let me just crap in a film can throw in House of wax remake and you will get about the same film. I will give credit to the idea of a musical horror film, but you need better people involved with it. Also this will never be a cult classic that term is thrown around way to loosely latley. Cult classics are Repo Man, Rocky Horror picture show, The big Lebowski, and Legend those are cult classics. This will be held in the same regard as lost boys 2, under what the f**k were they thinking.

djblack1313: Do you know if that site is accurate? Irish Mic: Those movies you listed, with the exception of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, are all crap. This, however, is original and has been getting positive reviews.

Well we will have to wait and see on that I could be wrong Jacques you may be right but considering the directors track record prob not. Also how can you not like Repo Man I can see the others are aquired tastes but Repo Man is great maybe you need to watch it again. Legend also you need to see the directors cut not the crappy theater version. I still hold strong though this movie I think will suck ass Paris Hilton come on really I think the people that will like this movie are the ones who liked silent hill not a knock at those people just different breeds of horror fans. Also not an original concept musical horror film organ repomen just lazy is what it is. Plus it looks like the studio just wants to dump it reviews though I want legit critics not some fan boy from Fangoria who thinks he knows what he is talking about. I went to school for horror films not saying I am an expert but most reviewed horror films by people in the industry are terrible films.

Actually, "real" critics are generally in love with cliches like The Orphanage and Pan's Labyrinth. I'd take a fanboy review over an old man's advice any day.

Irish Mic, i respect what you're saying absolutely. but i agree w/ Jacques on this. i'd rather have a fellow horror movie lover's review (someone who watches these movie because of the same reasons why i watch and love them) over some "critic" who most likely doesn't like horror movies and wouldn't give them a fair "review" if their life depended on it.

I really liked the Orphanage and Pan's. Yeah, LG can go fuck themselves. I can't believe they're only releasing this in 10 theaters! It was bad enough with MMT which was really good, but this is just getting stupid.

Guys, I am really pissed off at the fact this movie is getting a 10-screen release. BUT, we do have to thank Lionsgate for even making this film! It's something so different, that in reality not a lot of people would be seeing it if it got a wide release.. I mean, a futuristic horror musical starring terrible Paris Hilton singing with opera diva Sarah Brightman? Don't get me wrong, I am probably one of the most excited people for this movie, I've been in love with everything I've seen since day 1, and nothing is gunna stop me from seeing this movie. All we can do now is talk about the movie, and get more people interested in what DOES looks like a new cult classic that COULD be compared to The Rocky Horror Picture Show. And oh, I totally agree with djblack1313 and Jacques. I would read a horror nut's critic over an old bastard who thinks he knows EVERYTHING about films, and what people WANT in certain films anyday. Even though I don't really believe in reading critics at all. Go see a movie for what you want, and not what they want. Love/Hate a movie based on your own opinions, not somebody else's. Ahh I've written too much :) Back to the real topic.. yeah, I think these videos have been there for a while now. But soon- REPO CHAT! And more videos!

Im not talking ebert and roeper. Look all I am saying is the mass of horror films lately are garbage and pretty sure this one will be to there are reasons a studio will only release in so many theaters. Its not because it's different and they are scared of the risk it's because it sucks or it is NC-17. Also love fangoria but if you read the reviews in there of movies they think are good then go watch them most are crap. I respect all of you here no question, but here lets put it this way if you liked silent hill, saw 1 2 3 4 5 actually three was so so, hostel 1 2, actually had a funny conversation with tom savini about those films at school. anyway prob wont agree on alot of horror films.

Exactly, everyone likes different types of movies. I hated Silent Hill, and loved Rocky Horror and probably will love REPO!. But I think we all must agree that Lionsgate IS scared of the risk of putting a "futuristic horror musical probably rated R starring terrible Paris Hilton singing with opera diva Sarah Brightman" and Ogre from Skinny Puppy dancing around raping women, and wearing their faces.

Irish Mic: The movies in theaters are more crappy than the ones released in limited theaters. What are you talking about? And, yes, the reason they're not putting Repo! out is due to it being too different and risky. Have you read anything about the film? It makes Sweeney Todd look downright babyish and retarded. Sweeney Todd played it safe; Repo! has a punk edge that scares producers. Critics love safe cliches. If you love safe cliches as well, I have no idea why you're even on this site.

Considering how many great reviews this film is getting its unlikely that Irish Mic is at all accurate on this one (he hasn't seen the movie yet, so he doesn't have any more insight than we do). This is being dumped by Lionsgate for the same reason that Midnight Meat Train was, because Peter Block was a producer on it and the new management is out to prove that horror movies aren't profitable. I don't see this held in the same regard as Lost Boys 2, since Lost Boys 2 never got a good review, Repo has had several and Repo is not a sequel to anything. This film does have a cult following, just not one accumulated over three decades like Rocky Horror Picture show has had. Repo Man is a terrible example of a cult classic though, its on the lowest tier of dated 80s crap (probably beside Maximum Overdrive as Emilio's worst movies ever). If you want to read a review by someone other than a critic, go to imdb.com and read a review by someone who simply saw it at Fantasia. There's still plenty of good reviews coming from people that aren't working for a website or magazine.

Irish Mic, I agree I don't understand what all the excitement or interest is about. But then again low budget horror and sci-fi is more the art of shlock, and art is in the eye of the beholder.

yeah, pretty much ALL the reviews, not professional reviews but ones from everyday people, were positive. go to the IMDB page for it and you'll see MOST of the everyday folks who saw Repo! at Fantasia Fest LOVED this movie. p.s. i LOVED Silent Hill. LOVED IT. but i love all kinds of classic horror films to current ones. NOT including PROM NIGHT 2008!!! LOL.

Sweeney Todd that movie was garbage. I have not read a whole lot on it cause really it looks like crap and the film footage and singing god awful on that not lets just agree to disagree. The prom night comment was funny shit. Like I said could be wrong about this but I doubt it track records are not a plus here. I agree with some of the straight to dvd comments cause Inside was awesome I also think Mirrors has some promise I just hate that they have already givin away the bath tub scene. I also think they are about to beat the werewolf genre into the ground soon wolfman looks good but there are like twenty more coming out. BLAH
