'Wolf Creek' Sequel Will Be a XXX Bloodfest?!

There's nothing more frustrating that loving a filmmaker, loving his films and yet having to wait forever for them to get released. This morning, Moviehole.net posted some news that Aussie writer-director Gregg McLean might be returning to the outback for long long gestured sequel to WOLF CREEK, a film that we hope won't be set up at Dimension Films (boo!). Read on for the skinny.

Greg McLean talks to Moviehole.net:

"I am working on a few screenplays right now, as I am keen as hell to make another movie as soon as possible, because the ROGUE release has been such a long process. I'm ready to rock again - but want to make sure I'm going out there with a screenplay that's as great as it can be."

" I don't know. I'd like to see what else Mick (the killer from WOLF CREEK) is up to in the outback for sure - just not sure anyone else in the world does. Plus you've got to top the first one - and seriously, how much horror can you handle? If I did make WOLF CREEK 2 it would almost have to be unreleasable. Rated XXX. Banned all over the world. Never to be screened in public. That's kind of intriguing."

Maybe McLean should try and cook up a sequel independently and give us that brutality he wishes to deliver? You can count us in...

CREEK, which was made for less than $2 million, centers on a group of backpackers who have a run in with a loopy stranger, played by John Jarratt. It was supposed to be the vacation of a lifetime in the Australian Outback - full of fun, sun and adventure. But what happened to a trio of twenty-something backpackers took a wrenching detour into the depths of unrelenting terror.

Writers ALWAYS, ALWAYS over exaggerate on how gory their work is. They always think they're superior to others with gore standard, when in reality they're fairly tame. (Remember M. Night's comments about The Happening being rated X? Ha! That movie was PG-13 all the way!) I've yet to see a Greg McLean movie that was even close to the level of violence in your standard horror movie, much less above and beyond it. Wolf Creek was fairly brutal, but it did nothing on the gore/violence/graphicness scale at all. Rouge was pretty much PG if they had taken out a few f-words. So, really, I don't think Wolf Creek 2 will be much gorier than your standard movie. If Greg McLean does make the bloodbath he's alluding to, I'll be as happy as hell. But I know he won't.

I think a sequel would be awesome. The Mick character was as evil of a killer as we have seen on screen in some time. I like the director's idea of making the horror over the top. Make this happen.

I would be very upset if I never saw the killer from this movie again. I'm fully behind a sequel as long as the director has new & exciting ideas.

1) Wolf Creek was tons better than Hostel. 2) Please, no sequel. We already know what the fuck is going on. 3) Do something original, AGAIN. Seriously, he builds the story and characters so well....just come up with a new situation.

NixEclips: (1) Hostel lacked the artisticness of Wolf Creek, but Wolf Creek lacked the creativity and morality of Hostel. I'd take Hostel over it any day. (2 and 3), I wholeheartedly agree 100%. This is one movie that would be better off without a sequel, by a long shot.

Hostel won me over with the characters, surprisingly, but it didn't have the tension and emotion that make me care. I have much man-love for Eli Roth. But..seriously, Hostel better than Wolf Creek? No way.

And thanks.

Well Wolf Creek 2 would be interesting if it were called something else, isolating the sequel as it's own movie, just bringing back the old killer. Wolf Creek was tons better than most horror films that come out so rapidly. And I think we would all appreciate this being revisited as long as Greg doesn't make a "Wolf Creek 2" sequels are overrated but allusion is creative.

It would be a great idea to make a sequel independently and just make it a gorefest and just let it go straight to DVD. It wouldn't be that much of a difference from 9 bucks at the theater to 25 bucks for the DVD or 5 bucks to rent, everyones gonna want to see it.

why not remake the original, except this time make it really good.

Wolf Creek rocked, big time!!! so much more he could do with a sequel. This could rock hard if he chooses to do it.

I'm another one of the few who hated Wolf Creek. But I think a sequel would be interesting. There's no denying that the director is great, but I just really didn't see what all the fuss was all about for the first film.

this movie was the biggest let down ever... they were saying how it was going to be the goriest flick ever. And it turned out to be a fuckin cliche piece of shit. Maybe just maybe if Wolf 2 does come it will carry the gore like the first one should of have. IDK maybe the unrated DVD has more gore.... but I dont' want fine out.

flesheater123, i agree. especially since the 1st half of the movie was basically a combination of "MTV REAL WORLD Australia" and an Australian travel video. boring.

He is nothing but a try hard. xxx, give me a break, i smell bull shit. Obviously he is looking for attention.

Wow. So much hate for a film that did what it said it would do. Wolf Creek was a "film". Not an *event*, like Hostel. It told a story. If you were bored or whatever, it's because you expected it to do more than it was supposed to.
