Playing at this years UK Frightfest is Phedon Papamichael's From Within, which had it's world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year. Today the official poster finally made its way online, and can be viewed by reading beyond the break. Set in a small, God-fearing town, story focuses on a young girl caught between her Christian upbringing and a desire to experience the outside world. Her desire to break free is amplified when residents begin to die suspiciously.
If having a character with a sheltered, religious upbringing makes this a Carrie rip-off, then you'd have to call it a rip-off of at least another 200 movies as well. That's like saying Chasing Amy was rip-off of Creepshow, because they both have characters who are fans of comic books. The truth is we just don't have enough information here and I'm certainly open to hear more.
