Are you ready for another look at Alex Aja's Mirrors? Inside you'll find the entire first scene - which is a whopping five-minutes long - from 20th Century Fox's R-rated film. Arriving in theaters next Friday (August 15), the story follows a security guard at a high-end department store who begins to investigate mysterious deaths occurring in front of the stores' mirrors. He soon discovers that there are murderous reflections out for revenge.
I'd love to know why everyone thinks Alex Aja is oh-so gory. For a throat slitting scene, that was pretty typical. Nothing over-the-top there whatsoever. Not to mention that I simply had to laugh at the ridicules facial expressions the dude was making. Call me desensitized, but I have yet to see a Alex Aja that was even bordering on truly gory.
Really now, Scurgar? It seems to me like the idiot who keeps repeating himself without giving an reasons is the idiot. And I have no idea how anyone can call a throat slitting scene not typical. Look it up on IMBD.com: there are exactly 810 movies that have one. How much more generic can you get?
So because throats have been slashed in films before Mirrors, that means people can't enjoy this particular throat slashing or comment on how brutal it is?
I know that usually Jacques is really the stupid one. But as much as I loved the clip Jacques is really right. I've seen so many throat slittings (Sweeney Todd LOL) that this one isn't really different. But that doesn't keep me from seeing the film.
Good stuff. I might check this one out as long as the entire plot doesn't revolve around the Kiefer Sutherland trying to rescue his kid after he gets sucked into one of the mirrors. That'd just be fuckin stupid.
There was nothing shocking about the movie to start with. Every "gore" scene was taken from other (better) movies. This honestly reminds me of The Happening as far as lame, cheesy kills.
Jacques, have you seen this movie yet? if not then how do you know that "EVERY gore scene was taken from other better movies"?
and weren't those "other, better movies's" kills taken from other movies and so on. everything (for the most part) has already been done before. it's (IMO) the method in which it's presented/conveyed which makes it slightly different or somewhat unique.
I saw the original "Into the Mirror" and thought it was pretty damn good. Not that "scary" but they did a lot of interesting things with the idea of there being another world on the other side of the mirror. It looks like Aja is making an almost completely different movie other than the general plot points being the same. Which is cool cause simply remaking the movie shot for shot would be pretty pointless. I just hope he has a similar scene at the very end, that was very cool and kind of funny.
djblack1313: There are plenty of kills in the Saw movies that I've never seen in any other movie. There are plenty of kills in stuff I've read that I've never seen done in other movies. It's a matter of TRYING to be original, which is something Alex Aja isn't capable of doing. I can think of a hundred ways to kill someone that I have never seen in any movie ever. And I can think of a lot more truly brutal kills than another pansy throat slitting.
must say, as impressed as I would be if I watched someone breathe for an hour and a half...can't wait to see what's after Phirana, maybe he'll remake High Tension...
haha, i've seen it - what a load of crap - yet another film you been praising the hell out of and it sux ass big time.
ha ha
