In general remakes are a complete waste of time. In this case it makes me want to throw this bloody computer across the room. "Suspiria" is untouchable, it is sacrosanct. This would be an abomination and an insult to any serious fan of the genre.

If Aja's remake of "Into the Mirror" is his own vision it might have merit. As long as you guys pay money to see this shit they put out there will be no original ideas. The only problem I see with any Suspiria remake is the Americanized version will feel it is necessary to explain everything. The beauty of European and Japanese cinema is that sometimes you have no fucking idea why things happen,they just happen! The studios think American audiences need answers to every question, even the ones that haven't been asked. That's why a movie like The Strangers generates such buzz- there's no answers, just unpleasant questions.

Never heard of that director Greenshit, but Natalie would be the perfect, if not the only one to do the lead. Maybe Rob Zombie or George Lucas should direct.

this can't live up to the original - one of the greatest horror films of all time. but to join the remake debate, i don't mind them at all. i can still enjoy Dawn of the Dead while getting cheap thrills from the remake (same with TCM, Hills Have Eyes, The Fly, etc) of course some are crap but lots of films are crap, it doesn't desecrate the original in the slightest.

eh, the thing is about horror remakes is that they're innevitable. So I just try to look at them as unbiased as possible. Theres been a few good ones...okay...maybe a couple...but this one seems it will be a winner. I trust Natalie Portman, I dont know why, but I do, and the fact that Green actually REALLY wanted this, and isnt just a throw on director, makes me think that he'll do a faithful remake. Guy's you just got to look at remakes as "homage" to the originals

Actualy, I can name quite a few remakes that blow the originals out of the water. Some of the . . . of the Dead remakes beat the originals, as well as The Hills Have Eyes remake, and The Ring remake. All beat the originals by a long shot. This may be the same.

Another pointless waste of money. Studios fuck around proper horrors like Midnight Meat Train, yet are quick to remake classics and turn them into shite!

I just don't understand why one would remake what many consider - mtself included - to be a flawless masterpiece of horror. We as fans should be insulted. I wonder if Dario has any say in this? If, and only if , he signed off on it will i stop bitching about it. Then, of course, i would question his sanity. Why stop here, let's also remake Deep Red, Tenebrae, Opera, Phenonmenon and then we can start remaking Bava'a films.

I looked and it seems to be a fairly new production company. I was looking for trends and couldn't find any because I couldn't find any movies produced by Handsome Charlie Films. However, I suspect, in my gut, that this is going to be PG-13 fare...It certainly would be easily done. But we'll see. Just my speculation. New company. Wants to make money. Horror not doing so well. Want to bring in as much money as possible...It could still be well done with the right director and rest of a cast, but we'll have to see.

I got a Suspiria hoodie...now whenever I wear it people will think i'm a fan of the remake...awesome. I think Portman is a pretentious bitch, not as much as Julia Roberts, but pretty damned close.

Portman is a good actress and all (has been since Leon: The Profession) but there was a lot more to the original than the cast. Suspiria was a very personal story and therein a very personal project for Argento and Nicolodi and simply turning it over to the first company to buy the the rights is a mistake (even if they do have Portman signed on). And going from Pineapple Express (a movie about stoners) to this has to be the strangest transition ever for a filmmaker. What made Suspiria so amazing was its visuals and Green is not known for his visuals. When I think of Green and his aesthetic I can't help but think of Undertoe, which was very much the opposite in style of that of Argento. This is either going to be a very different movie from the original or a very pale imitation.

I'll admit that Portman is the ideal choice to fill Harper's shoes, and although I adore her, nothing will make me support this remake. Trying to remake Suspiria is like trying to repaint something by Dali.

This whole 'no more remakes' thing is so not cool anymore. Remakes (I prefer retellings) in one form or another have been around since stories were first told. Every generation is entitled to view a story in a way that they relate to. Further more, why wouldn't Hollywood, which contrary to popular knowledge is a business, not squeeze every dollar they can out of a property. I for one am looking forward to this flick.

They should have done it with kids, as Dario originally intended. The idea of those murders happening to children would have been very horrifying. Goblin HAS to do the soundtrack!

I agree completely with mikebrowne. There are a lot of remakes that are MUCH better than their originals, and I'm almost sure this may be one of them. At least I'm sure it'll be far less boring.

I'm not the biggest fan of the original. The best thing about this film is the music and colors. My only problem with it is that it's a little boring. Anyways, I can see Natalie in the role so...good choice!!! This better be good.... and not boring.

All the anti-remake banter is really pointless, in my opinion. It's not like the remake will ever effect the original in any way shape or form. Sure some of these movies have an extremely special place in our hearts. And many will agree this a movie you don't touch with a 38943298 foot pole. But let Green do what he would like, we all know that nothing will top Argento's film. But it doesn't mean that this film will not be something a lot of us may enjoy.

Note remakes shouldn't be made if the original director or creator says no. Argento has said absolutely no he doesn't want a remake of his film on multiple occasions. This is basically and exercise in using someone else's ideas (porbably terribly) to steal money.

I don't understand why everyone gets their panties all in a knot about remakes. A remake is just another interpretation and if you don't like it that's fine because you still have the original. Suspiria is an awesome movie, and although I don't think the atmosphere created in the original can be matched, I still think that a remake has great potential, and I look forward to it.

The only way I will see this movie is if Jessica Harper has a role, or at least a cameo. All these remakes do is prove that the "big" studios,producers, etc are completley dry of new & fresh ideas, and what was once an art is now just mass produced American garbage!!!I really wish that more independent films & film makers would get as much attention & praise as the crap that is spewed out these days!!!
