This afternoon we were provided with the official poster for the indie gay-horror/drama CTHULU, which hits theaters August 22 from Regent Releasing. Adapted from a story by H.P. Lovecraft. A Seattle history professor, drawn back to his estranged family on the Oregon coast to execute his late mother's estate, is reaquainted with his best friend from childhood, with whom he has a long-awaited tryst. Caught in an accelerating series of events, he discovers aspects of his father's New Age cult which take on a dangerous and apocalyptic significance.
This movie will be shit because it has absolutely nothing to do with the Cthulu mythos besides a cult... I wanna see a Cloverfield style film, but with the Cthulhu creature causing destruction.
....that's probably the dumbest thing I've heard.... Cthulu it's self is so terrifying that you would die looking at it kind of like the true face of god.....anyway it didn't appeared directly til near the end of the original tale if I'm right
In order to do a proper Lovecraftian creature, it would probably be best implied instead of seen. The key would be in the reactions of the actors and actresses.
Let me paraphrase for some of you that just didn't understand... "This movie will be shit because it has Tori Spelling in it." How's that for ya? and did I read correctly this is a indie-GAY horror film? What the fuck is the deal with that? Keep your homosexuality away from the Great Old Ones. P.S. Dagon and In the Mouth of Madness are probably as good a Cthulhu movie as we will ever see. P.P.S. Cloverfield would've been pretty damn cool had it taken place in the Cthulhu realm. Just sayin'.
Ok, really getting tired of the old "LOVECRAFTIAN CREATURES BEST IMPLIED NOT SEEN" - it tips the hand you haven't really read Lovecraft. Has there EVER been a writer so in love with biological descriptions and functionality as HP? Once a phrase akin to "creature of such indescribable terror..." hits the page you know 2-3 pages seeped in borderline biology porn describing in detail the depiction will follow. Meanwhile, nobody's complained about Gordon tossing some sex into the LPs, the gay could work, but that Tori Spelling IS cause for concern.
