This afternoon 20th Century Fox provided us with an exclusive age-restricted clip from Alex Aja's latest gore-fest, Mirrors, which arrives in theaters August 15th. The story follows a security guard at a high-end department store who begins to investigate mysterious deaths occurring in front of the stores' mirrors. He soon discovers that there are murderous reflections out for revenge. Read on for the clip and get ready to 'scream' in excitement.
The only *gore* we see is at the end. Despite that I'm totally excited for this movie and I really think Alexandre Aja is a great director. He gives horror fans what we want. Gore. Not those dumb PG-13 movies like 'One missed call', 'Prom Night', or 'Shutter'. But 1408 was good and that was PG-13. Anyone I'm still excited.
horrorfan25: I doubt this movie will be any more gory than some PG-13 movies on the shelves right now. That scene was no more graphic than some POSTERS I've seen. That said, I've seen all Alexandre Aja's movies, and I didn't find any of them to be gory. The Hills Have Eyes was a little bit, but nothing to phone home about. You can see more gore in a typical action movie.
Yes. I was going to rent it today but Blockbuster was out. Really, though, I sat down today and tried to think of every truly gory American movie I've seen and I could only think of one or two. And I've seen most all the "gory" movies that people on here are always talking about. I always think they're tame. I have some hope Mirrors will be a little scary and maybe a little original, but I have NO hope that it'll be gory. None.
Yeah, I'm waiting with you BillBeast... and the sucky thing is that leaves a whole month to read reviews and shit before we actually get to see it. Boo Who.
So am I right in thinking that the terribly disfigured woman only exists in the mirror? This looks like a good movie anyway, hope it lives up to its hype.
cool i was waiting for the gore i was like ok where is it...but loved it at the end! seen another clip of it last night (not the gory one that i just seen a different one while watching family guy) my fiance seen it and he thought that it looked awesome....i am so seeing this!!!
granted that i have full trust in aja...this clip does no need an age blocker....big deal someone looked a lil toasty. I op the films delive more so called gore than this...the jaw ripping scene is awesome though :)
Mixed feelings about this one. Jacques is...well he seems to hate everything and know everything. I remember when I was 13 and felt the same way. Oh and what kind of horror fan is just now attempting to rent High Tension?
lance666: ha i totally agree, Jacques cant doubt the gore Aja will put in Mirrors until he's seen High Tension.
this movie is gonna be soo sick tho, Aja is one of my fav so even if it doesnt live up to all the hype, i know there are gonna be some memorable scenes.
Hey Jacques!
What's your definition of "gore"? The unrated cut of 'High Tension' and 'The Hills Have Eyes' (I saw both in the theater and then bought the unrated DVD's and some scenes are gorier) are pretty bloody. 'High Tension' especially so.
I think Melchizedek is right when he says you must live in a slaughterhouse.
Looking forward to 'Mirrors'!
Unfortunately, here in Boston, the studio did not schedule any press screenings of Mirrors. There was one promotional screening scheduled for Thursday, but I received this email today...
Date: August 8, 2008 9:31:50 AM EDT
Subject: MIRRORS - PROMO CANCELLED
Please note, the promo screening of MIRRORS (originally scheduled for Thursday, August 14th at 8:00pm at Boston Common) has been CANCELLED. There will be no advance screenings of MIRRORS at this time.
I'm not really feeling creeped out after that one; nevertheless it looks entertaining and seems it though it does have quite a bit of creepiness potential. On a side note, I agree with the others here that have stated that that clip did not need to be age restricted.
Don't see this as anything else but another Ringu-style rip-off. Jack Bauer is desperate to make movies, and I'm glad he went into the horror genre. Let's just hope the rest of the movie is somewhat inventive (plotwise) and doesn't suck.
Jacques, you obviously aren't familiar with some of Aja's other films besides The Hills Have Eyes, what about Haute Tension?
Granted it's not Tumbling Doll of Flesh gory, but there's still more then enough blood to satisfy one film.
I never understand why these videos have an age requirement. There's never anything in them that justifies it, to me. but then, i don't have kids. I guess a kid could lie about his age and get freaked out and then the parents get pissed.
I'm really looking forward to this one. I've always been creeped out by reflections.
I am confused why a high end department store would look like an abandoned crackhouse though.
If you want to see a more recent gore-filled movie get Inside (Ŕ l'intérieur) from France.
It has some pretty gruesome scenes in it.
As for this movie? looks like another horror pumped out of Hollywoods tired vagina... we really need to give that place a hysterectomy.
