Last week we had breakfast with John and Drew Dowdle to chat about their forthcoming studio horror film, Quarantine, which hits theaters October 10th. The conversation was short so we hit 'em up later with a few other questions. First, there is still not solid talk about QUARANTINE becoming a franchise, we'll have to see how this one does first. MGM is still saying they'll be releasing The Poughkeepsie Tapes in mid/late November. Lastly, the brothers still would like to turn TAPES into a franchise, once again pending on how well the initial release is. Click the title for more info on both films.
i haven't seen (obviously) TPTapes, but HOW the hell could they (and why would they want to) turn this movie into a franchise. i thought the whole torture thing was over/gone (notice i didn't say 'torture porn'!LOL).
what is it going to be, part 2 the killer KEEPS torturing/killing women and it's filmed on a hand held camcorder. WOW that's a worthy sequel.... oh, no wait that's the plot of the 1st movie!
Really not looking forward to a sequel. The original PT looks incredible and cant wait for it, but a sequel would have to have and incredible plot and a logical way to bring the idea of a hand held camera back for the second one (though I know not all of the movie is hand held). Same goes for Quarantine btw.
quarantine will be trash. but the poughkeepsie tapes--although swiped the formula from blair witchproject--generally LOOKS creepy. but still may turn out to be rubbish.
I liked [REC]but i already seen it so i could care less about the americanized version. A sequel could be interesting tho if done properly.
Ive yet to see the PT tho so enh. But from what DJBlack says a sequel would be setting it up for another Hostel pos.
ya how can they make a sequel to the tptapes when it aint even released yet?????
