Earlier today we teased you all with the footage we witnessed with our own two eyes (not filmed for those of who were unclear) from the San Diego Comic Con of the new Friday the 13th movie, now you can watch it yourselves (even though it's pretty damn blurry)! Read on for your look at Platinum Dunes' film, which brings Jason Voorhees back to theaters on February 13, 2009. Then talk about it below, we all want to know what you think - I for one, dug it.
If this gets removed, please post new links below for the other readers, now talk amongst yourselves!:
The footage was awesome, the music seems to be ripped right from 1-4, which is great cause thats when it was at it's best.
but i still see some negatives, like Jason running.
jasonlives1986.......Jason running is a "negative"? Umm, not as far as I am concerned.
Parts 1-4 were the best in the series. That's the way it SHOULD be.
Definitely looking toward watching this movie. Can't wait! Mr. Disgusting, do you know if they might have an official trailer attached to an upcoming movie? Maybe with MIRRORS?
Pat34, I agree with 3 and 4 being the best, but I don't think that they serve as a platform for the almighty Friday movie. They certainly had the best aspects that made the franchise what they were, but if it wasn't for evolution or change, then the series wouldn't of become what it eventually did. That scene where Jason is running at the girl swinging what looks to be an axe is very cool looking and some nice piece of imagery, but think for a second where you seen that before? That looks more like Leatherface then Jason to me, so would I prefer that he not run? Yes, especially if he is as fast at it in that clip the way it looks as opposed to part 3 where he looked completely stiff running. Is it gonna ruin the movie for me? Not at all, I think there are alot more positives going for this movie then any other remake ever had going for them, especially these guys, lets thank god that Rob Zombie isn't the one behind this, and be happy that so far, it looks like these guys finally get it and that the negatives aren't out weighing the positives.
On IMDB out of the 15 actorsa displayed on the page, i know 10 of them. Jared Padeleckis i know from house of wax, cry wolf, and the other people are off different films like, sky high, meet the spartans, shes the man. This is gonna be good as. Better bump a movie of my top 10 list lol
DudeWheresMy, i didn't want to out him anymore than he been (regarding the footage), but you're right. thanx SOOOO much eddie!
oh, and Jason running at the end is one of
THE scariest scenes in any movie i've seen in a LOOOONGGG while! this 2 min clipage is WAY better than so many "horror" movies that have come our way in a long time.
Well I like everything I saw and I don't see any negatives about anything.
Great footage and am SO looking forward to a legit Theatrical Trailer. let's hope that the movie itself has something resembling the classic score that we all know and love.
i loved the part where Jason's shadow comes behind that girl in the tent! so fucking awesome! i love the whole look and color scheme of the movie along with the score! and yes Jason running is awesome!
cant wait.
true to form, this looks like all the other friday movies, but with atmospheric cinematography and slick music video editing. I mean, sure, it looks like fun, but it doesn't look like anything that'll blow me away. Really the only difference between this remake and the hordes of others is that the Friday series has always been about shamelessly unimaginative recycled elements.
AWESome! JASon's Cool As ALwayS! Can't Wait to see that ShiT! Running is not a big problem...I hope he won't scream from pain and will be speechless as always
nice effort for the man with the cam to have a crack at bootlegging the footage but i couldnt make out enough of it to have an opinion... or maybe i just need my eyes testing?
KM
Thank you, he runs, thats the most sense ive seen, i cant stand when they have him walk 1 step every 3 seconds and somehow he catches up to them its retarded. this looks sick
Looks EXACTLY the way I thought it would. Not too impressed, but do like the running Jason. I always hated the silly, Pepe Le Pu mode of transportation Jason implemented throughout the series.
ok holy shit that was bad ass!!!!!!!!!!!! i cannot wait for this movie that and jason totally always ran since 2 thru 4, it wasnt til 6 that he walked, but anyways like i said earlier i soo wanna see this, jason looked so badass and he trhew that cop into that cop car that was so cool and when he ran and swung into that girl or tree, that was cool lol :-D
I wish i could be as sure as some of you are that this will be a good movie.
after watching the short, blurry preview, i cant say either way if this will be good. What i do know is the scariest part of that trailer is near the end, when it says "Micheal Bay'.
god, i hope he isnt directing this. he doesnt even have any experience with horror movies, but he does making horible movies (pearl harbor)
HELL YEAH! how can old school fans of friday NOt be happy with this, there's so much elements from parts 2.3.4 in this that should make even the most bloodthirsty jason fans Happy, I guess some people will just be blind to greatness...?
Turn on your heartlight, neildiamondfan! No, it won't be the cerebral masterpiece that PIECES is, but it does look serious, bloody, and intense. And if it meets just those criteria, it will still be better than most of what gets released these days.
jkrouskop, LOL. NeilDiamondfan, all you DO is badmouth this movie. it's NOT a surprise to any of us that you think it "looks stupid, i won't be watching it." alright, WE GET IT!!!
Surprise, surprise. Lame, quick-cutting camera work reminiscent of Michael Bay's endless forays into mindless action movies. All that's missing is a shot of a building getting blowed up real good.
thank you mr. d!! this just cheered me up from crappy day yesterday!!! i love it!!! i am so glad that they are still having the ch ch ch haHAha.. was wondering if they were going to still have that.....i am so pumped up!!!!!! YAAAA!!!! keep bringing us more stuff!!!!!
You people make me laugh. Can most of you read? Michael Bay is only listed as a producer. He is responsible for the remake, but it is directed by Marcus Nispel who directed the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" remake. It also shares the same cinematographer (Daniel Pearl) so that's why it has a similar slick look. But you know what? What did you guys want? A low budget looking movie? I like that they hired a director who brings a good visual aesthetic to a film (that to be quite honest, rarely gets that sort of respect). The slasher film sub-genre of Horror has never been respected. But it seems that everything I have heard about this production has put fans first. Remaking parts 1, 2, and 3 takes real fans of the series back to a time when Jason was a real killer, and not some frankenstein like zombie. So making him run and be smarter and aggressive makes sense. The clip looks good. It's more than I expected to see, and I really wish this movie was slated for October or November instead of February. Screw Saw 5. Someone has to challenge their Halloween Release Schedule dominance, and a Jason can be the guy to do it. Also to the remake haters, suck it. Every damn F13 sequel was a remake of the 1st anyway. So why cry? It's not like the F13 films were perfect. They weren't. After 4 they started trying too hard. And while I love 6 and 7, how could they do a sequel after all the nonsense he went through after 7? Parts 8, JGTH, JX, and FvsJ were all terrible. A remake is the only way to keep him relevant, make him scary again, and introduce him to a new audience. So as a Friday fan since I was a child in the 80's, I welcome this remake and will be there in February.
Well, I'm not going to say I love but I sooo didn't hate it. I will wait till I can see a much better version of it before I decide if I like it. It seems scary and intense. I don't understand why people are hating on Michael Bay? Can you tell me why? I mean if you really watch the TCM films, and forget the original's they are really good films. This is kind of like RZ's Halloween all over again. No Rob's Halloween wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. And every person who said they wouldn't see it went and seen it and that will be the case w/ Friday the 13th. Whom ever is saying, "I hate it", or "Wont be seeing it", will be the first people in line or buying there tickets on Fandango.com in Febuary.
Gotta say this film is looking better & better every day! Jason looks like he's gonna be a really mean bastard which usually makes for a great horror movie, if this is as good as Nispel's TCM remake I'll be more than happy!
Everyone has a right to their own opinions. I hated Nispels TCM, but LOVED Liebesmans TCM. They both looked good, but really were not scary at all. Music is good in a horror film, but I hate cheap jump scares, and Nispels TCM was LOADED with jump scares, and an orchestra on top of that. That really takes away being a realistic horror movie, and makes it into a big budget adventure,
DevilNeverCry81, I agree with everything you said. Who cares let them remake Friday, let them remake Halloween, those franchises were as good as DEAD. Jason X was the worst Friday ever bottom line and with Halloween Resurrection the next film would have went straight to DVD. No Rob Zombie didn't do a great job but at least it brought Michael and the Halloween franchise back in a big way and it wasn't that bad of a film. Halloween 2 maybe a whole lot better and maybe it can bring it back to a scarier state now that RZ's film is over. I think Michael Bay and Platinum is going to do a GREAT job with the franchise and I think we will get a Friday the 13th part 2, 3, & 4. I don't think that they need to go past 4 or 5 films with this or Halloween END THEM ON A HIGH NOTE not a dying franchise were you have no choice but to kill them. Now Nightmare on Elm Street, I don't know about that to much because Robert Englund IS Freedy Kruger. But who knows I do think that Bob Weinstien and company needs to begin thinking and looking for a script for Halloween 2 so they can release it in Sept or Oct of 2009 to go head to head w/ Friday the 13th. I know of a guy on myspace that has submitted a script and from talking to him it sounds pretty dang good.

Jason X was NOT the worst Friday!! are you nuts? That has some of the Better death scenes from the whole series. That is... if you only give a crap about the death scenes, then Jason X kicked butt :)
"Halloween" failed creatively because of certain choices that Zombie made. What made "Halloween" the best slasher film of the genre was it's simplicity. Michael was crazy and we never knew why. The "Sister" angle was introduced in part 2 for more dramatic effect. Zombie claimed many times that he didn't want to just do a by the numbers remake, yet the last 30-40 minutes of his film is the original film crammed into a short time. Not cool. Maybe part 2 can be good. But let someone more serious like Leibsman give it a shot. The TCM prequel was actually well directed (the story, and the audience knowing no one would live at the end was the problem). Also recast Laurie. Back to F13. I'm in full support of this remake so far. They aren't reinventing the wheel here. It's Jason Voorhees at camp, killing kids, and now looking good while doing so. It's better than we should have expected, and better than this series really deserves after the debacles that have been every film since 8.
Even blurry, that was a pretty cool trailer/preview. Looks like Jason is pretty fast, ferocious and brutal which is exactly what you want. I think the reason most people don't like Bay is mainly because of his editing. He butchered Transformers with his quick cuts because it broke up the action and made it hard to follow (or atleast that why I dislike him). As producer, we can hope he doesn't have much say in the editing process. Fingers crossed
I'll be honest, that first still of Jason that came out disappointed me big time. But holy hell, this footage was fucking awesome. Now if the studio would just release the footage themselves so we could get a really good, clean look at it.
not being a fan of Friday the 13th, all I can say is that it looks very generic and nothing is new or exciting. this is obviously appealing to fanboys. being said, I still want to see it because I love slashers.
......So, I've been shamelessly and vocally critical about this one A LOT, as have many of the hardcore fans, but.... that looked good. I wanted to dislike it, but that looked like a preview to a good horror film! And ya know what? Rob Zombie's Halloween kicks ass. I've never understood all the bitching about that. He made Michael Myers actually scary. This might be a scary Jason! Or, maybe not! Maybe, yes, maybe, buckwheats, may maybe buck buckwheats, or, no.
Holy shit! That looks fucking SWEET! Definately one remake that I will be willing to see! Good work, Platinum Dunes! You guys FINALLY got it right again.
Hey, I got an idea... how bout we make something NEW, with an ORIGINAL story? I guess there are NO new original scripts out there the studios like. Oh well... lame.
Jaw dropping footage, and Its not even the trailer yet. That was fucking awesome! The only thing negative is jason running. In every movie of his he has never ran so why now ?
I love it! cant wait for this movie and I DID like seeing Michael Bay's name. This is going to kick so much ass and it looks to true to the originals and then some.
Looks great, it's dark! I was worried it would be too light, but they've seemed to have captured the classic feel. It shocked me hearing the musice too! Jason runs!!!! YES!
"The 13th Ghost", Jason ran in part 2, 3, and 4. Then he died in 4. Imposter Ambulance Driver Jason was part 5. And then Zombie Jason took over from Part 6 on. Jason walked real fast in 6. Then began to only walk in 7 (since his spine was showing, and I'm sure that prevents agility) eventhough he did the superjump through the cabin window and into the kitchen in 7. In 8 he inexplicably started teleporting. And in the beginning of 9, he was walking fast again. Since this movie is essentially a remake of 1, 2, and 3, Jason is no longer a zombie, and back to being dead. So hence, he's able to run again.
I have an idea, Thje Scarecrow... Why don't you write and/or produce something new and original? Your complaint is a favorite song of the perennial pessimists who post comments on pages like this, yet I can't recall a single instance of someone who started out posting such thoughts ever going on to create the next great horror movie. Studios are in business to make money, and if a new and original idea has the potential to make it for them, they rarely hesitate to snap that idea up. The problem is that there are few truly original ideas out there, and even fewer writers with the skill to package those ideas in a workable, three-act script. Groaning about Hollywood being unoriginal on a horror movie site is a bit like complaining that the government needs to fix the economy but not bothering to run for office or even vote yourself. It's just hollow noise.
Okay, this is to some of the insightful fans out there: "Who were those two people in the beginning. Which actors were they? Who was the guy getting killed by Jason and who was the girl screaming her head off?" Sorry, all young actors and actresses look the same to me. Just wondering. Also, I hope it was just the footage being low quality(as taken with a cell phone), but this movie looks generally too blue and two yellow in certain parts. I hope that's not the case, cause those ultra tinted movies reek. I seriously hope it's the video quality, cause this movie's looking pretty good and I don't want yet ANOTHER movie like Pulse where everybody looks like a smurf.
Friday The 13th! Looks to bring fear back to a new generation of viewers! I grew up watching Jason, Freddy, Leatherface, Micheal and Ash! I don't have a problem with remakes or re imaging because todays youth most likely never watched the originals but my problem is with writers in hollywood lacking imagination to bring something new and kickass to the table! But I will finish saying that this friday the 13th looks completely badass! I hope it stands the test of time!
You know what? You're all right. Jason SHOULDN'T run, and then it will be EXACTLY like all the other Fridays. The one thing that they change in an attempt to actually justify this films existence, jason's movement/ character, and that's not even a big or unexpected change, and 2/3 of you hate it. When this comes out, just stay home and watch the first 4 again.
I saw this on youtube...and really looking forward to it... part 3 and 4 were the best of the series.I kinda got the feeling of certain scenes put into the remake also... like in part four when jason busts through the window and grabs Tommy(cory)... and in this one towards the end of the trailer he busts through and grabs what looks like jarad padalecki.... I also love that Jason is running again... not walking... this is gonna be bad ass!!!!!!!!!!!
magnaderalpha, the guy is Mike (Nick Mennell) and the girl appears to be Amanda (America Olivo). The rest of the shots go by a bit too quickly to make out the specific actors/characters involved, but I doubt it will be hard to tell them apart once we see the entire film. With the exception of a superficial resemblance between Amanda Righetti and Danielle Panabaker, none of these young actors look alike. I'm with you 100% on "tinted" films, but I don't think that's the case here. The opening shot of the lake and the water shots later don't look blue at all, nor do the close-ups of the actors' faces. I think the blue you're seeing comes from watching low-res nighttime scenes.
TheHorrorMovieGuru, I totally agree with you. That's the sad thing about the horror industry now compared to back in the 70s and 80s, they had more balls back then to take chances and create some of the most awesome horror villains ever. Now, it seems like they are too afraid to make the leap out of fear that they can loose money. Remaking a classic franchise at least guarantees some money, even if it's crap. Though I was skeptical about this movie at first, the trailer's kickass! jkrouskop, I do hope it's not tinted filters and that it's just the moonlit ambience, cause I hated the tinting in the TCM remake(and The Beginning). That type of thing, I guess, was alright when they FIRST started doing it, but it became a movie fad that has over stayed it welcome. It seriously needs to go. I find more natural lighting, and plain color more scarier cause, frankly, that's more realistic. We see in color. It's rare that we go into a place where everything is super blueish unless it's like a club or something. If you are going to make a horror movie, make it as realistic as possible, in plain color, just like it would happen in real life. It's kinda annoying when they try to make it like some art house film. I tend to say, it's only missing the scene of the worried anorexic girl smoking a cigarette while pacing back and forth and the mime with the single tear rolling down his cheek.
