During an interview with Alex Aja at the San Diego Comic Con, he revealed that we might finally see a DVD release of his '99 movie, FURIA, on DVD sometime soon. The film is a futuristic fable comparable to George Orwell's 1984, FURIA offers a bleak peek into humankind's possible fate. The future government has obliterated any political opposition by shutting them down, as well as reigning in creative pursuits such as art and music. Read on for more on the film.

Aaron (Pierre Vaneck) is a local bartender who can only see in monochrome after an operation inflicted on him by government drones; he was assigned to this fate after being caught painting. His two sons, Theo (Stanislas Merhar) and Laurence (Wadek Stanczak) couldn't be more different from each other. Laurence works for the oppressive government forces, while Theo takes on his father's mantle and actively defies the rules by painting on any public surface he can find. Teaming up with fellow rebel, Elia (Marion Cotillard), Theo sets about decorating the city, and slowly falling in love with Elia. But with government minions everywhere they are soon in big trouble, leading to a tense finale to director Alexander Aja's all-consuming drama.

It's one thing for BD to not already know there was a DVD, but not even the director knew. Classic.

Actually there are two versions that can be ordered through amazon. One I think is an import, but the other is a US release.... That release I think was meant to coat-tail the hype around La Vie en Rose's Marion Cotillard (sp) who co-stars in Furia. I was actually planning on ordering it from Amazon next week, but I may hold off to see if the "new" edition has better features possibly a director's cut.

NETFLIX has this! I love Aja but I've never bothered renting it because I get the feeling that it is not good.
