Here's some crazy news for to chew on while we run back and forth at this week's San Diego Comic Con. We chatted with Platinum Dunes producer Brad Fuller who tells us that they have yet to officially sign on to produce the A Nightmare on Elm Street remake for Warner Bros. Pictures' division New Line Cinema. Earlier this week it was announced that veteran scribe Wesley Strick (Cape Fear, Doom) to pen the relaunch. Watch for any updates as they come in.

So, does this mean that a remake is still only being considered and not a definate thing? Cause this remaking everything is really getting tired.

I heard that Michael Rosenbaum is gonna play Freddy. I think with just the right amount of make-up and dirt... he'll be perfect. That would be pretty bitchin'.

i think if anyone HAS to remake it (and that's HAS to make it) i think PD should be the ones to do it. they did a great job on TCM and Friday is looking awesome and spot on.

It would be kinda neat if Nispel ended up helming this remake too.... his visual style would definitely suit a new Nightmare on Elm Street and that would put him behind the camera for the relaunch of three of the big four horror/slasher icons... Leatherhead, Jason and Freddy.

still would rather see robert englund as fred kruger in a PREQUEL with all the interesting and open ideas for what he was like before he became into nightmares, the origin story of him as a normal man would be very interesting to me...rather than predictability and rehashing things

I hope PD DOESN'T produce the remake.

Oneblood, you meant Leatherface! Leatherhead is a character from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

This is the best news I've heard in a long time. Even if it results in another remake NOT by Platinum Dunes, I will still be happy.

Best news I heard all day. PD should keep their hands off this one everything else they made has been crap.

So maybe I wasn't wasting my time on hope after all. Screw the remake and gives a new chapter. Bring back Robert and Heather, do it the right way. Death to horror remakes!

This is great news.PD only want to get their hands on Freddy to fulfill their parasitic needs and their bank accounts.Give the movie to someone with real respect for the original.Wes Craven should be involved for a start. No Shannon + Swift and now no PD.I have new hope for this movie.

They shouldn't be doing this to begin with for fucks sake no robert what the fucks that about no one should play freddy but him as far as platnum dunes is concerned fuck those guys it doesn't take talent to remake every movie that was good to begin with its just a sure fire way for them to get money, fuck remakes if ur to lame to go watch a movie because its twenty something years old u have no reason to be watching movies to begin with

That's the truth. They SHOULDN'T do it. But, eventually they WILL. When they do, I'd prefer someone that doesn't completely cater to the MTV-generation like PD does. When you do that, horror looses it's brains. The original NOES was all about the psychological mindfuck with Nancy's descent into madness. PD can do you average pretty young things with pointless nudity and violence, but NOES was SMARTER than that. Of course, later on in the series, it was dumbed down, but the original was so much more than your average horror cliches. And witnessing Nancy start off as a basically normal good natured average girl-next-door to a paranoid insomniac was a thrill in itself. She doesn't know where reality ends and where the dream begins. Craven captured that VERY good. I don't think PD is capable of giving us something like THAT.
