Personally I don't blame her for holding out of the movie. Honestly, Sidney's story is over. If they are going to make a Scream 4, set it in Woodsboro and have it allude to the previous series. Neve Campbell really doesn't have to be that involved. Furthermore, I would hate it to see her character die since it would be pointless.

There could still be a new story,just get her back for a cameo or something,as for setting it back in woodsboro i think its a good idea,my personal idea is to have whats left of the woodsboro survivors back (The party group from stus house,martha meeks,the students who himbrey suspended,the two girls who talked about sids mum in the bathroom,hank loomis,sids dad,deweys mum etc etc... sheriff burke,and set the story on killer/s who want their own re-make of the woodsboro killings on the anniversary of the first massacre... not to set Sidney as the main victim but maybe to have her at least make an appearance even if brief! She was only with Scream 3 for 3 weeks to film her part there!!!! There is a workable 4th film there,with or without her,at least the arquettes would return,they always said they would!

I say just drop her and let scream 4, 5 and 6 be a new trilogy like i'm hearing it is. Get Gale and Dewey back and have a new story that'll span three more movie, we really don't need Neve. I'm really angry that the weinsteins would get people all hyped up and excited by putting the film in a press release announcement when in reality the film isen't even a script and they are still depending on Neve. The idea of Sid spending her whole life dealing with ghostface killers is absurd and rediculous. If anyone is going to breathe new life into this tired series, it should be done with an original story involving new people. Why would Neve even want to come back? She said before she filmed part three she didnt want to be typecast...Well, too late for her, but me, as a fan of the first one in the trilogy, personally dont want to see anymore of her. Her story is tired and she should have been killed off in the third one. And honestly, none of the surviving characters have anything to offer besides comedy relief, and the time for funny horror movies has passed. If youre gonna do scream, make it worth screaming for.

A) Yeah, I think it's BS for them to "announce" SCREAM 4 when, in reality, it's nowhere closer to happening than it was 8 years ago. B) The Sidney Prescott story should be over and done with. The only way a SCREAM 4 is going to be at all worthwhile is if some new blood is injected into it. It should start fresh. "Hollywood" is all over this concept of "remakes" right now. Why not "remake" the SCREAM concept entirely? Times have changed too much since the original debuted in 1996. SCREAM 4 should have a new set of characters, a new writer, and if Mr. Craven doesn't want to step on to the project wholeheartedly, a new director.

I love how people are getting so worked up over this, and swearing up and down as if it makes them sound like anything other than an idiot. I say let the series rest in peace. The third film had nice closure to the storyline, there's no need to press it further unless they have a copycat murderer involved with a whole new cast of characters. If she doesn't want to come back just write her out. Maybe she dies (not killed though) so Dewey and Gail go back to Woodsboro for the funeral. Then a new series of murders begin and they try to help solve the case. Well, maybe that sounds lame but what are they going to do? The series really has gone about as far as it can go without going in a new direction.

I don't want this film to be made and most people I know don't either. I can handle this film being made if Kevin Williamson returned to write and Wes Craven returned to direct. Besides the fact, that is the only way Neve Campbell will return is if Craven's in. And I'm glad that the Weinstein's aren't trying to remake the films or/and cast a new Sidney it would be a dishoonor to all those who did their best in the trilogy and a big Fuck You, we want money to the fans. So I hope Neve Campbell will stand her ground.

I can see why she isn't interested, the third film was crap. If they ant to do a forth they should invite Neve to do a prologue where Sidney gets killed, as a homage to Friday the 13th Part 2 perhaps, then we can get a new hero and heroine. After all, Scream 3 claimed that 'all bets are off' but we were still left with the same three survivors as usual, They should only make it if Kevin Willaimson feels as passionate about it as he did with the first two!

The thing is, Weinstein already knows how Neve feels about a scream 4. Now it can be possible that they may have mentioned it to her and she threw a few hints at wanting to return but honestly this is why BD needs to contact the weinsteins so we can really know whats going on
