One of the most anticipated DVD releases in a long time is Warner Premiere's Lost Boys: The Tribe, which arrives at retailers on July 29th. We just finished watching the film, which was directed by P.J Pesce (who also makes a cameo in the film), and made a pretty interesting discovery regarding Corey Haim and Corey Feldman. For the news, read on, but we aware that this contains a major spoiler.
MAJOR SPOILER ALERT
To read the story, highlight the text below:
In LOST BOYS: THE TRIBE, Corey Feldman was set to make his triumphant return to the franchise as Edgar Frog, while Corey Haim would return as Sam Emerson. While Feldman makes appearances throughout the entire pic, Haim was nowhere to be seen. When the final credits roll out, the last name listed is Corey Haim - then the screen goes black. This is when you finally get a glimpse at Emerson and we get a clip of him going head-to-head with Frog. The end sets up a sequel, but also confirms what was shown on "The Two Coreys". It appears that Haim's character was cut from most of the film, which is a damn shame - although maybe it's not considering how terrible it was. Watch for a review soon.
This sequel takes us to the shady surf city of Luna Bay, California, where vampires quickly dispatch anyone who crosses their path. Into this dark world arrive Chris Emerson (Hilgenbrink) and his younger sister, Nicole (Reeser). Having just lost their parents in a car accident, the siblings move in with their eccentric Aunt Jillian and become new prey for the locals’ way of life. When Nicole unwittingly falls for a local vampire, Chris must locate and destroy the gang’s lifeline before his sister’s transformation is complete; to do this Chris finds himself relying on the expertise of none other than Edgar Frog (Feldman).
Yeah I saw this movie last night and was less than impressed. Even Feldman reprising his role couldn't save much face. Now if only they could have got Alex Winter back somehow... it still would have (no, not sucked) been an awful sequel. The only truly entertaining part was the fat saxophone player on the corner that looked like the guy from the original. Even that wasn't all that hysterical.
The scenes on The Two Coreys where they were trying to film Corey Haim's scenes for this flick were actually painful to watch. He couldn't even get one line out. And he seemed like he was high on something.
I downloaded this a few days a ago and it was freaking awesome!!! And it didn't need HAIM to be good. The only thing that I didn't like was Feldmans face he still looks like a 13 year old boy and I'm a little worried that he IS a vampire cause he's not ageing in this movie at all! I give it 7 out of ten and it only looses the 3 points for SAVINI... you'll see!
I enjoyed it - Tad Hilgenbrinck is great, love him. I also liked Autumn Reeser, and of course it was great to have Corey Feldman back and the cameo by Tom Savini. It also helped that the kills were quite splashy and didn't skimp on the red stuff.
Not a Sequel at all. The story line is pretty much the same as the original. Apart from the opening scenes with Tom Savini, It's the same movie as the original, They've just swapped sex's of one of the principal characters. This movie was a bit of an Anti-Climax at best.
corey haim is such a waste.haim isn't cut from the movie entirely, but the 30 seconds he does have is dubbed over and from rumors on the net he couldn't even stay clean for one day to shoot. the movie is actually above average in the realm of direct to video movies. feldman is the only saving grace of the film. because i love the original and i have hopes that if enough people will buy it a third movie will be spawned and potentially clean up after this mess of a sequel.
No, there was no way in hell this was ever gonna live up to the original, nor did I really expect it to and I have to say I was pretty impressed with it. It will definately get added to my collection!
Check out this month's PLAYBOY and see
Feldman's wife!
There was no reason for Haim to be in the movie.
I would have guessed his character left town years ago.
The same for Michael, Mom and Star.
Grandpa and Feldman would have stayed.
What about the other Frog brother?
Nanook would be dead, of course.
There is no reason to see this film aside from a few hotties in the first 20 minutes...Aside from that the Flick is horrendous....A total waste of 90 minutes....
I went into this movie with low expectations and was not disappointed. If Haim was in it would have been worse. It was barely tollerable having Feldman come back. He tries way to hard to act tough and it just comes off awkward. The first movie was good not because of the two Coreys but in spite of them. Really we all no who the real star of that movie was... Grandpa
The two Coreys were in an interview once and Feldman said "no ones ever said hey kid you can't act". The first thing that popped into my head was maybe someone should have.
Haim is a sad story. If he'd really given a straight- sober performance, maybe though a minor success, it might have led him out of the black-hole he's been trapped in for all these years. It's a shame that some of these people that's been so fuckin' lucky to have a talent like this find countless ways to screw things up for themselves. At least Feldman seems to have his head on semi-straight. He should ditch Haim. He's an un-necessary stress on Feldman. Tell him to get clean or disappear forever. People like Haim sap all your mental energy. As long as you cater to their every little problem, they won't ever do or think for themselves. Mr. Feldman, you're a good man for putting up with this walking cancer, now ditch him or you'll never get a moments peace!!!!
I think that was kind of uncalled for Quint. I would hate to be a friend of yours. You don't walk away from a friend or family member that needs some serious help. Haim s in need of some and Feldman is the answer.
Feldman walks away from Haim forever, I give haim less than a year and he will be dead.
So you tell me, would you walk away from a best friend of yours that needed your help. I would hope not.
The fact is Mr.Sensitive, that Feldman has tried to help that man for years and it doesn't seem to be doing any good. You may have mis-understood me. I'm always there to help any friend of mine, but when after YEARS, it doesn't seem to be working, you have to try something else. Ultimately, Haim has to be the one to get his sorry act together. It's NOT Feldman's responsibility to stay after him. Haim's a grown man that needs PROFESSIONAL help. People like that will drag you to the bottom with them if you're not careful. Like I said, you tell Haim to seek professional help, or you end the friendship. That might shake his foundation enough to finally get serious about his problems. That IS being a true friend. Give em' a hard enough kick in the ass & maybe they'll sraighten up. You can't keep pettin' folks & expect it to change things. If that's enough for em', then great. But some folks you've got to shove their face in it to make them wake the hell up before they desroy themselves & others around them. That's not the only solution for everything, but in THIS case it is, & maybe the man will love HIMSELF enough to save his OWN life. Thank you & goodnight!!!! "Flies & the un-dead go together like bullets n' guns"----The Lost Boys.
I hope that makes my point clear to you. This is a sensitive topic for me because I've seen what these addictions do to people's lives. They'll rot your insides out if you let it. If just being there can do the job, then fine, but in his case a more drastic step is needed. It's like these so called parents that don't discipline their kids when they're growing up & then have the nerve to act surprised when their kids turn out to be trouble makers when they're teens & young adults. It's like a building with a weak foundation. It can't stand on it's own without crumbling to the ground. Give em' a strong foundation with some structure & they'll be able to stand on their own, & deal with life's unpredictable climate.
