One more piece of news from this afternoons interviews for Universal Pictures' The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. When we saw the film this past weekend there was one thing of note, Luke Ford was the centerpiece of the film, while Brendan Fraser appeared to be more of a footnote. When asked about future films, Luke Ford told SpookyDan that he has signed on for a total of three films, leading us to believe he is being primed as the new leading O'Connell in the MUMMY franchise. I guess we'll be reporting more if the film is a box office success August 1st weekend.
hmm would be interesting. but would be wierd wiout seeing brandon fraser not in it. i liked the first two (never seen the scorpion king then again dont know if i should even include that).....hopefully the third mummy is good as the first two....wonder if brandon would be signed on for any of the three unless they kill him off in the fourth. i guess only time will tell
These movies are passable escapist fare, and are certainly better than THE SCORPION KING or VAN HELSING. My only issue with them is that as long as Universal is churning out sequels, there won't be a real, horror-themed mummy film coming to theaters.
maybe we will the aztec mummy in part 4, been awhile since he was on the scene. where could the come up with living mummies and keep the idea fresh??? alien mummies would be ineresting...
