We broke the news exclusively back in November that Victor Salva was in talks to direct the third installment of his JEEPERS CREEPERS franchise for MGM. Various news stories have broke since then, with rumors of a possible back-to-back shoot with a fourth film. Today it was revealed that the film will now carry a new moniker and that it is about to begin shooting. Read on for the story.
Once titled JEEPERS CREEPERS 3: THE CREEPER WALKS AMONG US, Fangoria received word that the film will now be titled Jeepers Creepers III: Cathedral and is about to enter preproduction.
“The script, now titled JEEPERS CREEPERS III: CATHEDRAL, is about to enter preproduction at MGM and does include a prologue in the Old West where we see how the Creeper became a frightening part of cowboy and Native American folklore...”
Salva also reveals some plot points of the story and explains how Gina Philips makes her return to the franchise, news which we also broke exclusively here in March.
"...one aspect of the third film features Trish Jenner [again played by Gina Philips from the original film], who, 23 years later, has a teenage son of her own, named Darry after her long lost brother. Trish is having a terrible recurring dream where her son meets the same terrible fate as her brother. Now a rich and powerful woman, Trish is determined to stop the Creeper once and for all.”
Salva also teases that "It also revisits characters from both films, lets us learn more about what the Creeper is and, by popular demand, reintroduces the infamous Creeper truck.”
I love the Trish part, but the cowboys, eh... I don't really like that part. That and the title, it should just be Jeepers Creepers 3, but Cathedral is better than The Creeper Walks Among Us.

I can't believe that people are actually excited about this. JC1 was... okay, I guess, even though it was cheesy. JC2 was easily one of the worst horror pics I've ever seen. Victor Salva couldn't direct himself out of a paper bag!
If Salva directs this it will be fucking bad ass. Anyone else....shit sandwhich. Why Salva doesn't get more directing gigs and people like Brett the Rat get all kinds of shit. Baffles me...he must not play the hollywood game and suck up to the suits.
omg this is so awesome i will be first in line for this movie and cannot wait for it to come out!! :-D and the return of trish janner will make this movie so much more awesome i am so watching this! :-D
Hmmm, dunno about this. The first one was good(the first half high class horror), the second, meh. I like not knowing where the Creeper comes from. Adds more mystery. But then again, I could just not watch the 3rd and possibily 4th one. Its good to hear Trish is returning though.
My children and I have been waiting for this one since the second one ended. One was hortastic, two sucked Satan's nutsack, so lets hope three is better.
