Today Yahoo! Movies is hosting in HD the brad new theatrical trailer for Sony Screen Gems' Quarantine, which is now slated to arrive in theaters October 10th. The R-rated remake of the Spanish horror film [REC] was directed by John Erick Dowdle and co-written by John and his brother Drew Dowdle who collaborated on MGM's THE POUGHKEEPSIE TAPES, which is still looking for a release later this year. If the trailer is an indication on how the film will be, consider this reporter very excited. Your thoughts?
Above all, see the original [rec], it's just great, the Quarantine trailer left nothing to guess, it showed the best parts already... let's hope and see...
agree with bangor09, absolutely ridiculous trailer. having seen [REC] its looks pretty much the same, so yea all the best bits were in the trailer. why the "£$£" do they do that???? they even showed you the end of the film at the end of the trailer...genius
just when you thought they couldn't get any stupider.... by the way has any heard about the arlis tapes finaily being released on dvd? check it out, a reporter who investigated some strange things disapears and all that is left to tell the tale are the arlis tapes.
It's really unfortunate that they decided to do a remake rather than release the original here in the US... One of the things that made [REC] so effective, I think, was that I had no idea who any of the actors were. Without any familiar faces, it was extremely easy to suspend disbelief, which made [REC] that much scarier. I can't watch the trailers for Quarantine without thinking, "Oh, look, it's Dexter's sister."
Rec is a great movie, but I don't really have to say that because enough others have. That Quarantine trailer fucking blows because it gives away the ending. C'mon you idiots at Sony Screen Gems, how hard could that have been? All you had to do was make the same movie as Rec in English frame by frame and the same trailer frame by frame and you would have been good to go. Rec does come out here in the states on DVD in August. In case Quarantine doesn't measure up at least we'll have what-it-should-have-been to watch.
My only hope is that there's more footage after Angela gets pulled away. The first trailer started with the SWAT team going into the apartment building perhaps this scene could be after Angela's apparent death. Watching this new trailer was like reading the cliff notes of a book.
I really want to see this. I watched the beginning of [Rec] but I got busy doing something else and never finished it. What I saw was very good though, and I'm excited both for this and the release of the original which will happen eventually (hopefully).
This looks good, although I agree they mighta spoiled it. I'll take my girlfriend and have fun seeing her reactions to it. I enjoy peoples fear. *evil laugh*
i agree that you've basically seen the movie now, since the trailer has shown you much of the the key points in the film (at least the original REC). the shot of Jennifer being pulled away.....why can't studio's leave SOMETHING 'til we see it in theaters. we now all now (if you didn't before) what happens to Jen's character.
This film looks awesome! And to some: Some of us have never seen [REC] Or can't get good access to the movie, so what may not come as a surprise to you may come to a surprise to us.
never sene the original, but this looks awesome.....ok i guess she dont survive? greaat i hate it when they do that...but i will still see it......y does that name sound familiar? Jennifer Carpenter. did she star in other movies and is she related to haloween createer john carpenter?
wouldn't be suprised if they wrecked it though, looks good but studios have a tendency to take something pure and awesome and spill their bowels on it.
Hm, this looks exactly like the original, which I thought was overrated. It had some good moments. . . but it wasn't great. The whole progression of the story depends on the writers giving the characters excuses to go back upstairs (where the infected people are), and I just couldn't swallow it.
Nope, not sold one bit. I'll check it because I'm sure I can check it for free, but I am more than certain this isn't gonna be very good at all. Another case of 'dumbing down' a well made horror film 'cause all of us here hate 'ta reed them funny words on th' movin' picture screen' and can't relate to the Sapnish. *lol* I don't remember [REC] cheating with Night Vision, either. Figures...
Putting aside issues concerning domestic remakes of foreign films and trailers that go all the way on the first date, I'm getting really tired of the hand-held, wow-this-is-real-footage-from-a-camcorder-or-cell-phone-rec overed-from-the-scene-of-something-horrible conceit. I guess this look is meant to appeal to the ADHD youtube generation, but it's really over-played at this point.
