Just yesterday Joss Whedon broke the news to MTV that he was working on a new thriller with CLOVERFIELD scribe Drew Goddard. Today Variety upped the ante with details that MGM has just acquired the script and has tapped Goddard to direct The Cabin in the Woods. No plot details were revealed (again). Goddard and Whedon first teamed on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," which Whedon created, and also worked together on the "Buffy" spinoff "Angel." Goddard also worked on "Alias" as a writer and co-producer.
This project is old news. Whedon didn't break the story to MTV, he broke it to G4 a long time ago, along with the fact that Drew Goddard would be helming it.
