Sigouney Weaver Still Interested in 'Alien 5'

While browsing through UK website OK! Magazine, I stumbled across a piece of news that raised one of my eyebrows - Sigouney Weaver is still very much interested in returning as ALIEN heroine Ellen Ripley if 20th Century Fox would ever consider doing an Alien 5. "I would definitely do another if I had a director like Ridley Scott and we had a good idea," she says of the classic sci-fi movie franchise. "Ridley is enthusiastic about it." Weaver - who first played Ripley in 1979 at the age of 30 before going on to star in ALIENS (1986), ALIEN 3 (1992) and ALIEN: RESURRECTION (1997) - says if sixtysomethings such as Harrison Ford (INDIANA JONES) and Sylvester Stallone (ROCKY, RAMBO) can do it, so can she. Fox, are you listening? Enough of this AvP crap!

They always ask her the same questions and she always replies in the same way. No surprise here, but Fox is not interested

Or maybe, they can give us the AVP we all want..... no that just crazy. Fox giving the fans what they want.

Yeah, I've read this same basic story several times over the last couple years... I just don't see it happening though. Not to mention coming up with a logical (and GOOD) storyline for her to star in.

I'd LOVE for this to happen, and I don't think it's too far-fetched. Rambo, Die Hard, Indiana Jones -- even the Spice Girls are all a firm indication of the times.

VIVA LA RIPLEY...VIVA LA ALIENS 5

I'd love to see it, I just think the series has gone in such a direction that it's not really achievable though. I want a human Ripley that actually had some kind of character to care about, not some pseudo-alien clone. Eh.

OK id be pumped for alien 5 but enough of AvP. is she kidding thats one of my fav. series. like come on the 2 most succesful aliens killing each other and humans at the same time is kinda fun and awsome at the same time.

I agree they should do another Alien, they can't seem to give both creatures enough screen time in the AVP franchise. I do enjoy those movies though

Wow, I was sure she would have finally lost interest after the abominations known as AvP. Same with Ridley. Now it's just up to Fox to remove its head from its ass...

Don't see how you could pull it off. what is there left for the character to do(died and been cloned.)??? What new exciting thing could you do with the aliens that hasn't been done already???

Well, you could pick up where they left off and see the battle take place on future Earth. She'd have to be the clone for continuity's sake but I think it could be really badass if done by the right people.

korollocke

I could get behind that, the shock of the impact reactivates the long dormat sky net computer and the terminaters are dispatched to deal with the humans and the aliens...that would be fun.

Since AvP attempted something at a hint prequel with the Weyland Character known to us as Bishop (the synthetic from Aliens and Alien3) and the ending in AvP Requiem where the guy gives MRs Yutani (Weyland-Yutani corp!) the Predator cannon im wondering where they are going with this attempt to carry on the already failed AvP franchise. However they did leave Alien Resurrection open for a 5th! In the ending that made it Ripley and Call and the great Ron Pearlman barely touched down on earth...couldnt the new one pick up after this? maybe as they break through the clouds they see Aliens running riot through cities (and maybe then bring on the Predators if thats what Fox really bloody want but keep it mostly in the Alien vein!!!!) Personally I doubt Ridley will be bothered about doing another (seriously) I mean what has he done in the last 10 years? As for Weaver, I dont think she can really afford to throw away films last I saw her rippleyness was in sodding Village and that movie sucked ass. So her bitterness to the trodden AVP films was probobly the fact that it didnt need her, the comics didnt have Ripley and neither did the PC games and the films which ignored the great source material from the AVP world (except Pred-Alien) didnt even call for actual actors (we all know Lance is a great sport and will do pretty much anything) So Weaver, Fox and Ridley get your heads out of yur asses and get the wheels rolling already stop yamming out the crap PG-13 versions of two great franchises for the kids and make something real...especially you FOX! There, I feel good getting that out...

She's said repeatedly that she would want to go to the alien homeworld. That would be part 5. Supposedly James Cameron had started a script for it but lost interest after the first AVP came out. Though I would prefer Scott anyway. . .

Hey Korollocke? that would be a good idea but it will have to be a longer film, something that is rare nowadays but given the franchises here would anyone really mind? Did you ever read Robocop V Terminator I like that Sarah connor and the resistance wanted Robocop dead as it was his and OCP's fault also that the cyborgs exist. And couldnt OCP be an offshoot corp to Weyland Yutani? now my mind is ticking maybe we should all band together and make a script that FOX will soil themselves at... Seriously they should plug the geek world of comics here if they want great stories and stop bringing the hacks in...as for example raise your hands if you could have made a better REsident Evil franchise...yeah so could I!!! lol.

deadlover, maybe Scott and Cameron on the same film! Scott will bring his great character and atmosphere setting skills whilst Cameron can bring his action. Maybe Fincher can supply the rain! I never read the part about setting it on the alien homeworld that would be great to see.

Bring the alien back for a fifth by all means but dont insult the fans by bringing Ripley back from the dead. Again. I know...why dont platinum dunes just remake alien. Great idea.

the birkhill slasher: what are you on about? Ripley was already brought back from the dead in 4 and she did not die in the end of the movie..So if a fifth movie is made then of course she will be in it. I think a fifth one must be set in Earth since that is how the fourth one ends, and then to finish the second trilogy they would take the final battle to the Alien homeland

Only way i would see a 5th alien movie is if Sigouney Weaver is in it. AvsP and AvsPR where both garbage.

FleshTrap666

Alien 5 would be a great idea...even though the whole clone thing is still rather lame I could deal with as long as they stuck the story that was set up in the last film. A new stand alone Predator movie following the "Bad Blood" comic series would be awesome. To see a Pred fight another Pred.

shes almost 60?!?! shocked me.... she dont look it at all. i remember when she played in the two ghostbuster movies. crud i just seen a interview of her on it was one of the early news talk shows (i think either early show or gma dont quote me on that) yesterday when she was talkin about the voice of the computer main frame thing in wall-e and she dont look her age at all. alien scared me when i was lttle and just one sick movie in my opinion. wouldnt mind seeing her in another alien.

Alien 5 I would like a NEW woman to take the place of the Ridely type character and Ellen Ridely to retire and make a quick cameo nothing else because she's almost 60 and she might look young but resu should be a clear sign that she even with modern day filming methods wasn't as good as she was in the 80's or dare I say they should do a remake because technology has jumped so much since Alien original release that I laughed at Aliens and Alien3 looking at the way there computer set ups. Oh yeah and if they do do either they should have the lead Xenomorph have the name code name "SAMUS" as a kind of a friendly nod at Metroid much like the main rival in Metroid is an alien "Ridely"

PREDATOR 3 SHOULD BE DONE and SOON please if the movie studio excs are listening Predator 3 and it should have a cameo by both Danny Glover and Arnold

Oh yeah prefect setting for predator since it likes to hunt in hot places full of combat the middle east is perfect

korollocke
3:45pm, July 5, 2008

i could get in to robocop throwing down with the aliens or predaters, how about really going into left field and having the predators hunt the night breed and pinhead and the ceniobites deal with the aliens. freddy and jason vs the predators(Wonder what predators dream of...), micheal myers vs aliens????

As long as they did a Aliens-like set-up showing Ripley's aging state, I'm for it. Remember in Aliens when she's shown . . . not quite there in the beginning? If the whole movie was like that, I'd be for it like noneother.

She's too old to do another one.

maybe it's better not to do this one. I mean I can't say I was that impressed with Indy4 and DieHard4

"Die Hard 4" kicked ass.

Just a few weeks ago she was saying she'd never do another Alien movie ever again (saying that since AVP there was no going back to the original franchise). I wonder what has changed since then? The question is how would they go back to what made the original so scary when we've been overexposed to the xenomorph for five movies since the original.

I believe that both Sigourney and Ridley have shown interest doing 5 set on the Alien homeworld over the years but doubt it's going to happen after the failure of AVP2. Still, like most fans, would love to see it if it's done. I personally done mind another AVP and Predator.

Why can't she leave the Alien franchise alone. Don't get my wrong I loved her story in Alien 1-3 but her tale is done. Just let the creatures do the talking and bring in new human characters.

why did they have to mix the movies in the first place... Predator is shit and a stupid movie Alien is amazing, Aliens is a classic and Alien 3 was pretty decent, neva seen the 4th but apparentaly its not so great I think an Alien 5 would be great but it seems the director the francise went in would mean this would not be too good it might turn a little silly and feel dragged out. I think it should be remade and I personally think the man to do it would be Neil Marshall, hes good at mixing action with suspense and horror. I think it would be good with Platium Dunes and I would love Jessica Biel to have the main role, though make her look less glam and dye her hair dark, as shes quite musalar looking.

If Scott is going to make another Alien then why not pull a superman and just ignore all the movies done after Aliens. 3 was metiocre, the initial idea of having it take place in a space monastery would have been much more interesting. Anyway, Alien 3 and ressurection did not do the series justice so lets just forget they were made and conclude a pseudo-trilogy with a final film from Scott.
