This 4th of July morning IGN posted an exclusive first look at the trailer for Knowing, the latest film from director Alex Proyas (Dark City, The Crow). The film tells the story of a man (played by Nicolas Cage) who unearths a time capsule with children's drawings predicting the future that was buried in the 1950s. One child's drawings predicted several horrible events that already have come true; however, one of those events has not yet occurred, and the man sets out to prevent it from happening. Summit Entertainment has slated the film for release on March 20, 2009. Read on for the trailer.
First of all...."From the Director of I, Robot"? What the hell? He directed The Crow and Dark City. Does anyone hold I, Robot above those movies? Secondly, I just can't go along with the casting of Nicholas Cage, bringing him into this makes it look like a supernatural spinoff of National Treasure 2 or Next. I'm excited about the casting of Rose Byrne, but other than that, this film looks only okay at best. And is it me or was the code written by Cage when he was a child. That seems to be what they're insinuating.
Looks good! I only wish it was someone other than Nick Cage starring. His constant deadpan delivery of lines really gets old, it's like he's the exact same character in EVERY movie!
If it's not Will Smith saving the world, it's Nicolas Cage. What gives? I thought there was "only one man..."
At least it's Alex Proyas behind the camera.
Nicolas Cage is the worst fucking actor of our time. Doesn't matter if the script is tight, the direction is solid, the SFX are awe-inspiring, if Nick Cage is in it his pitiful excuse of a performance will drag all redeeming aspects of this film into the shit encrusted toilet where all of his performances fester.
Cage should take a permanent vacation. He sucks. Proyas fucking rules though. Ever seen Garage Days? (besides all the other classics he's directed) That movie was the shit!
ok this does look cheesey...the idea is ok something different.....ya they should have put another actor other than cage in it. i only liked maybe 2 or 3 of his flicks but that is all. will smith is a way better dude to save the world. either him or bruce willis.
The reason for the "From the director of I Robot" blurb at the beginning is that nobody saw "Dark City" & nobody remembers "The Crow". We on this forum of course have seen them but unfortunately we are in the minority & studios aren't in it to appease to the minority are they? How else can they justify Cage's $20 million dollar payday?? That being said, It looks a little interesting & if Proyas is involved it's probably a more intelligent script than this sort of material deserves.
This looks pretty sick I like nic cage a lot... hes one of my fav and even though everyone hates the wicker man remake i think its his funniest movie to date.
but this looks really sick esp when the plane crashes....
This looks amazing... Don't you guys remember, Face/Off, The Rock and Con Air? Nic Cage rocks. To see him work with film genius Alex "The Crow" Proyas will totally deliver. To say the least, Nic Cage rules and I rather see this than Repo: Generic Opera, by far.
Keanu reeves would have been a better choice for this role that Nicolas Cage has in this film. He carries a bit more pizzazz. I too would like to know what happens when the numbers run out.
I think you'll be surprised how good Nic Cage will be in Knowing. His son is the one that gets the letter. (from the time capsule) There is an extremely believable relationship between father and son who is played by a very talented 9 year old named Chandler Canterbury.
