Today Universal Pictures announced May 29, 2009 release for Sam Raimi's newest horror venture, Drag Me to Hell, which is an original tale of a young woman’s desperate quest to break an evil curse. In other release date news, Sony Screen Gems has changed the date for the Dowdle brother's Quarantine, the remake to Spanish horror film [REC]. Originally slated for an October 17, 2008 release, the film will now hit theaters everywhere on October 10th. Click either title above for full details, stills and longer synopses.
"So whats coming out on the 17th that spooked screen gems?" Its not what is coming out on the 17th, its whats coming out the following week: Saw 5. If they come out two weeks earlier, that's an extra week they can have to dominate the horror market. Its actually a pretty smart move.
Hmm, I didn't think of that, Horrorholic. I personally will not be seeing Saw V, after the disaster that was Saw IV. Of course, it'll still make at least 50 mil, unfortunately.
Still wish Ellen Paige hadn't dropped out of Drag Me to Hell. Loved her in Hard Candy and was really excited when I initially read she was to be in this, but oh well.
