Today a brand new pic was revealed from Universal Pictures' The Wolfman that features not only a better look at Benicio del Toro in his period piece costume, but also your first ever look at Anthony Hopkins in the film that is scheduled for release on April 3, 2009. Directed by Joe Johnston, Like the 1941 original that starred Lon Chaney Jr., new pic will be set in Victorian England. Del Toro will play a man who returns from America to his ancestral homeland, gets bitten by a werewolf and begins a hairy moonlight existence.

After reading the story, i wonder if maybe the beast lawarnce is after is the frankenstien monster and he becomes the wolfman to face him. This isn't to far fetched, universal annouced a remake of frank versus the wolfman a while back, would be a great cover-up if this is true, but it won't happen. But it's fun to imagine what could be.

This is gonna be really great! It looks like when Hammer re-invented the Universal classics all over again and made them fresh for a new generation.

I have a strong honest feeling that this film will set in the company of BRAM STOKER'S "DRACULA" and MARY SHELLY'S "FRANKENSTEIN" as being purely breath taking in every turn possible from acting as well as set designs.

I loved Bram Stokers Dracula but was really disappointed with Frankenstein. As much as I love Bobby-D he was really miscast as the monster.

If only John Landis was attached as director. :(
