'Repo!' Gets Tentative November Date, Trailer Back Online
Wednesday, July 2, 2008

We received word this morning that Lionsgate has set a tentative date for Darren Lynn Bousman's horror-musical Repo! The Genetic Opera. As of right now the film is slated for a limited release on November 7, although the studio has yet to officially lock down that date. In addition, we learned that the removed trailer for the film is now online over at the film's official website - with even more footage! In the not-so-distant future when an epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet, scientists gear for a massive organ harvest. A biotech giant comes up with easy organ payment plans, but all financed organs are subject to legal default, including repossession at the hands of repo men.

Awesome. Hopefully that date sticks (if it isn't moved up, I just don't want it to be delayed). I can't wait to see this film in theaters.

how much do you want to bet Lionsgate will fuck this over the same way it's fucking over Midnight Meat Train.? and a "limited" release (if it's anything like MMT's) means like 100 theaters or something. Lionsgate is beginning to be one of the suckiest companies (a la Weinsteins). i'm still dying to see this, though.

There is nothing "pure" about Paris Hilton. Except maybe that she's a pure whore.

Son of a bitch! All I saw was Nov. 7 and missed the limited release part. Well damn! Why is Lionsgate doing this? I just don't understand. I really don't want to have to drive or fly hundreds, possibly thousands of miles to see this film. I'm excited about it, but can't afford that. I'd be willing to pay a lot to see this film, but a lot doesn't meaning flying to NYC to see the damn film. Oh well, guess I'll have to wait for the Blu-Ray release (*goes to a corner and cries*).

It's because Joe Drake took over for Peter Block and is dumping any of Peter's projects like bastard stepchildren. What a douche.

ThorianCreeper... I agree with you with the whole movie experience. I hate having to go to the theaters and have a bad seed fuck up my movie experience. I just stay home now and wait for DVD. I have my own personal theater at home that I'm very, very proud of. If I go to the movies anymore... I'll wait a week or two or even three weeks so I can get a quiet screening.

WHAT THE HEELLLL! 4 months of waiting.. for a fucking LIMITED release? Are you shitting me? Well, as long as it's playing in Boston, like Hatchet, I will be happy, only a 30 minute drive.. based on what I've seen (trailers, pictures, the website..) this movie is going to blow me away. And there are still people who won't see this just because of one actress. LIONSGATE, LOCK DOWN THIS DATE ALREADY!

Horror_Luva... LOL, are you talking about me and the whole Paris Hilton thing? I saw the new trailer and got really excited until I saw Paris "STD" Hilton on screen again. What was the director thinking, I bet she was his personal "fluffer" on set and that's how she got that gig, lol. Fuck the theaters for this one, I'll wait for DVD and when Ms. STD 2008 appears... I'll just skip it. Hopefully, her scene is a cameo and not a supporting role. WHY DID THEY CAST THAT SKANK? Another thing, would it be crazy if her parents paid for her to be in the epic musical and payed her wage, thinking she earned it?

I can't help but laugh whenever MexicanDave posts something about how he doesn't know what the director was thinking when he cast Paris, she is gunna ruin this movie, I will be high/drunk if I like it because she's in it, her parents paid for it all.. ahh I love funny people :)

Limited release? November 7th? Damn it, Lionsgate! Why do you torture me like this? Crap like 'Hatchet' gets a wider release than this, and with a lesser known cast and no-name director attached. Hopefully we'll get a dvd release some time around Christmas (but it won't be the same!). This movie was meant for wide release (and deserves it a lot more than crap like Sweeney Todd ever did). At least give us an official poster. Something I can buy online.

unfortunately it's because Lionsgate now SUCKS BALLS!! how can they (the new pres or whoever) treat us fans like this? Midnight Meat Train & now Repo!. so it's true, we're left (from LG) w/ Tyler Perry movies and ....

Mmm, I don't think Hatchet or Sweeney Todd were crappy movies =P BUT, I do have to agree with you americangods. Hatchet had a pretty "decent" limited release. Now, let's just hope REPO! gets a "decent" limited release also, or maybe a wide release (that would be wonderful...) and since November 7 is a TENTATIVE release date, they will probably wait until the date's been locked until they start promoting the movie.. MEANWHILE, the REPO site is being updated this week, and soon it will feature video clips from the movie, and a whole new song. =)

Horror_Luva... Never seen Sweeney Todd (yet) but Hatchet was pretty enjoyable, I'll give you that. To me, all "limited release" movie are really awesome, to a point. Limited release movies: High Tension, Hatchet and every film of the "8 Films To Die For" series were decent films...to a point. Limited release movies create more hype than a mainstream flick. Maybe Lionsgate wants to make their money off of DVD sales, for the people who couldn't make it in the theaters. Again, the director will regret putting Paris Hilton in his movie. My guess is that he hadn't seen House Of Wax yet.

Paris Hilton was terrrible in House of Wax, yes. She was also terrible in Nine Lives, and that movie was pretty terrible. But it seems like Darren Bousman, the director of REPO!, has been saying that when Paris went into the casting room, all their jaws dropped. And MexicanDave, it might make you feel a little better knowing that the character she is playing is called Amber Sweet, and she is a self-absorbed bitch who is addicted to a drug, and plastic cirguries? =P Anyway... I've seen House of Wax, I saw her in Nine Lives, and she was terrible in both films. HOWEVER, I have NOT seen REPO!, so I am not going to judge her now.. all I have to say (for the thousandth time, lol) is that REPO! looks amazing. If it does end up being a limited release, I will be happy as long as it comes to Boston. And that a Blu-Ray is available once the movie hits stores.

What a shocker. Lionsgate giving Repo! a LIMITED release 2 weeks after Saw 5 and the latest Tyler Perry shitfest gets a 3000 screen release. I wrote them an email complaining about the shitty treatment they are giving Midnight Meat Train.

Chococat... I hope that you mean that you love the city of Paris and not Paris Hilton. What has Paris Hilton done to this world beside spread AIDS even more in America. She's nothing special, she's nothing but (maybe) eye-candy... to the blind. Oh, I'm sorry, If you want AIDS or every virus known to man, then she's all yours. Keep her away from music and film and the world would be very happy.

How would everybody feel... if your daughter tore your family name in two? Your daughter is known for sleeping around, getting drunk and partying at all hours of the night all on film? I remember watching an interview where she said that she cheated all through high school. I also remember reading about her interview with Larry King on how she doesn't do drugs, in fact, on film and pictures were taken her doing drugs. Don't forget, she doesn't like black people, I remember seeing her on film and her saying "I hate ni**ers!" Now, that right there shocked the shit out of me. Her show... The Simple Life on FOX proved that she's absentminded. Reality TV is supposed to film you in the raw... well, she showed her range in One Night In Paris. Imagine if this was your own daughter, what would you do and how would you feel? Paris Hilton... stay away, far away from music and film. I'm not even gonna say please.

Horror_Luva... It is sad because the tone of the movie looks bad-ass. Everything that the trailer offers looks promising to the fullest. It's just a shame that she's in it, that's all. I'm not paying for that.
