Update: The Confirmed working title is BUTTERFLY EFFECT: REVELATION, also we're told that Anthony Leonardi has yet to sign the dotted line. Watch for more updates soon. We received word this morning that After Dark Films has found their director is in talks with a director for the third BUTTERFLY EFFECT movie, which we're being told might be called Butterfly Effect: Revelation. Our sources tell us Anthony Leonardi the III, director of the short film EXISTENCE, is in final negotiations to helm the film, which is slated to join this year's "8 Films to Die For". We'll have an update soon. In the script by Holly Brinx, a young man discovers he has inherited the powers of "The Butterfly Effect" and attempts to solve the mystery of his high school girlfriend's death using his newfound ability, only to unwittingly unleash a vicious serial killer.
The original Butterfly Effect was unique and entertaining, but the second one strayed too far towards Final Destination territory and just became another dumb teen slasher. I can't imagine a third would be any better
I really liked the first one and the point of serving your self only messes up everyone else. i haven't seen the other one, everything that needed to be said was said with the first one. Not everything needs to be a franchise you know...
Taking the premise in this direction sounds like you're ripping off of The I Inside (a movie where the main character uses his time traveling abilities to investigate his brother's murder). Since when is AfterDark HorrorFest showing sequels? Considering the only good thing about Butterfly Effect 2 was seeing Erica Durance in her underwear, I'm not gonna have particularly high hopes for part 3, unless they somehow cast Durance again.
I'm kinda either way on this movie. I loved the first one , despite its many, many flaws. Yeah, I was disappointed in part 2. I can't remember why, because I only watched it the day it went direct to video, which all 2 copies were checked out at Blockbuster so me being the movie fanatic I am, I went to WalMart and bought it for $19.95. That being said, almost every movie that has more than two parts (that I have seen anyways), part 2 is always a get rich quick scheme and it usually is bad, not in a good way. Part 3 is alot better than 2 and sometimes, rarely but every once in a while it is better than the 1st. Fast and furious 2 was awful. Tokyo Drift was great. Final Destination 2 was dumb, but 3 awesome! Resident Evil 2 I didn't care for, 3 was slightly better. Back to the direct to video part. Almost everyone that has seen 2 thought it sucked, but most movies that go d.t.v. do. Now, 3 is going to theaters, which means it may be good. Look at the premise. It sounds interesting enough. I think with in the right hands that this could very well be a really good franchise, but my emphasis is on in GOOD hands. You could go so very far, and still keep everyone entertained. Use different characters with the same abilities, its like a Choose Your Own Adventure book. The possibilities are endless!
