We still don't know if Rob Zombie's Tyrannosaurus Rex (teaser image) is loosely based on his comic book THE NAIL, which was published in 2004 by Steve Niles and Zombie's Creep Entertainment International. But today Steve Niles updates his blog that addressed the issue and still makes me think that T-REX was inspired by NAIL. Read on for the story.
"I've been getting a lot of calls and mail about Rob Zombie's new project, Tyrannosaurus Rex," NIles writes on his blog. "People seem to be under the impression that Rob is doing The Nail and cutting me out. This is not true. Not only is T-Rex a different story, but also Rob is 100% owner of The Nail and is welcome to cherry pick anything he wants. It's his concept. I was just along for the ride."
I personally take this as stating that it still could have some elements from THE NAIL. Either way, at least there's no hard feelings between the two genre favs.
"There are NO issues between Rob and I. Creep might be dormant at the moment, but we are not ruling out more team-ups down the road."
I can understand the whole sheri sux thing, but what's with the "steve niles" is a sellout thing? ya know that its actually possible that he's being honest?
All the Zombie/Moon/Niles hate is ridiculous. "Oh this one sucks", "This guys a sellout", "This bitch can't act". If you're all such experts...Where's your fucking Oscar? How many screenplays have you sold? What was the last creative thing you've done besides think of new insults for these people? Yeah, I thought so. Ok, maybe Zombie isn't Orson Welles and Sheri isn't Streep, but at least they actually went out and made/did something.
Good argument Justin.
Don't complain because you weren't lucky enough to get famous for music and use all your connections to make movies.
Yeah, good logic, asshole.
I can't complain because I've never had a shitty movie made? Wow. Well you know what? When's the last movie YOU MADE? Oh, you didn't? Then you can't say that any movie is good.
i'd also like to applaud justin. but other than that, "the nail" was the shit, so this movie should be bad ass also. hopefully they dont make him censor too much shit. but i'm not holding my breath on that one.
Ooooh, name calling. Watch out for this guy.
Luck? What do you think, some record producer saw Zombie on the street and said, "That guy will do"? Again with the hate. Rob Zombie worked his ass off to get his band noticed and signed.
You have every right to complain, but you're not complaining. You're just talking a bunch of shit. They put out 1 poster and already, you know this sucks? Fuck. I wish I had that ability. What's next week's lotto numbers?
So, I've never made a movie, but I'm not here talking shit. Nor am I rabidly defending/praising Zombie's finished work, just the man's efforts. Efforts which 99% of you never attempted.
Ever heard the expression, "Shit or get off the pot"? That's all I was saying.
Do you have a platinum selling record? No? Well, I guess you can't say anything bad about any band ever. Have you won the Super Bowl or NBA Finals? No? Well, I guess you can't have a negative opinion on any sports franchise. Have you ever had a successful television show? No? Well, you better not ever say anything derogatory towards any show in the history of TV. Your logic is flawed, you don't have to be an expert in a particular field to dislike a part of it. Who cares about the effort someone made if the final product is throwaway garbage? Yeah, great, you just polluted movies that much more, but man you sure tried hard!
Sheri Moon Zombie is a horrible actress. Then again, having someone stuff your mouth with all that juvenile dialogue -- "fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!" -- can't help matters. I'm rooting for Zombie's directorial career all the way. But it seems to me that he's going to have to wake up and face all his liabilities asap, and one of them is his wife's woefully inept acting skills.
