Writer-actor-producer E.L. Katz is currently writing a draft of Dibbuk Box for Ghost House Pictures, according to the IMDB. The film was inspired by a real life haunted box purchased on Ebay that brings bad fortune to its possessors. Eventually being passed from one person to the next and causing all sorts of torment. I personally followed this event as it happened over the course of a few years, which was a very odd and interesting experience. This could be a really cool project! Katz wrote HOME SICK, POP SKULL and the upcoming AUTOPSY, which was directed by Adam Gierasch.
I agree that E.L. Katz will be able to do a superb job with this history and material. That is... if he can survive the "Dibbuk Box" curse that follows the writers too.
I have followed this story from June 2003 to date and was excited "way back when" to see - then newbie - Stephen Susco assigned the duties of writer for this story to come to film - only to witness that opportunity taken away and given to Moira Buffini of London almost one year later. So Moira wrote her script over the next year - only to have it taken back to Stephen Susco once again. Upon Susco completing the script and turning it in - Susco discovered that suddenly E.L. Katz was starting over from the beginning - scratch two writers (one of them twice). Bad luck? Or a curse? So as mentioned -it should be great(as would have been Susco's and Buffini's material) if E.L. can survive the curse of even writing about the Dibbuk Box.
Gotta love internet urban legends, especially the part about the box being responsible for the holocaust, nice bit of bull shit taking on a life of it's own.
