An interesting rumor popped up in French over at a website called SpielbergFilms.com who reports that Josh Brolin is in talks to slap on an eye patch and topline New Line Cinema's the Escape from New York remake as the new Snake Plissken. "A source close to the production (if so) has assured us that it is now Josh Brolin to be in the running to take over the role of Snake Plissken in the remake currently in draft New York 1997.” The movie took a turn for the worse when Len Wiseman walked from the project leaving it at square one this past October. Watch for official news soon.
kurt russell will never be touched, he's the most underated actor of all time..
josh brolin is great, dont get me wrong, i just dont think its a good idea to remake this right now. space some of this shit out a bit, you dont have to remake all the great shit from 70s and 80s right this minute...
let Kurt Russell and John Carpenter make ESCAPE FROM EARTH these two are the most underated people in cinema is a shame
John Carpenter is one of the best Directors of all time he was a step forward for is era.
Isn't Brolin supposed to be the new Terminator too? Russel has still got it so they should just let him play the role again. Maybe after he does that he can get back with Stallone and make Tango and Cash 2.
I liked the original, but what I'm wondering is, What does "Escape from New York" have to do with Horror ???
Wouldn't you classify that as an action adventure with a pinch of Sci Fi ?
you expect me to believe that if kurt were to do it now, that a 40 something can fight that many people. Brolin is better than Mr.300 that they were going to use
I kinda thought Josh Brolin was this decade's Kurt Russell, this only brings it full circle. Not so sure if I like this remake idea, but I guess it could be worse.
Josh Brolin's closest example to Snake is in Planet Terror. Cold, collected... he'll make an excellent Plisskin. Don't believe me? Watch No Country for Old Men a couple of times and tell me he doesn't have it in him.
It sounds just fine to me. Brolin certainly has it. I know a lot of people are still sentimental about Kurt Russell and rightly so, but this is a "remake" not a "sequel." And just how badly do you honestly think Kurt Russel would want to make a movie he's already made? Besides, aren't there other great "original" movies the same time and money could be spent on?
