I really don't know why I keep getting e-mails about this - considering I thought it was clear as crystal - but just so there are no questions in the future I would like to clarify to all of you that Jason Voorhees will in fact wear both the infamous mask and the "hood" (bag) in the remake of Friday the 13th, which arrives in theaters everywhere February 13, 2009. Marcus Nispel recently wrapped production in Austin, Texas with Jared Padalecki, Derek Mears, Amanda Righetti, Danielle Panabaker, Aaron Yoo, Travis Van Winkle, Willa Ford, Nick Mennell, Jonathan Sadowski, Nana Visitor, Arlen Escarpeta, Ryan Hansen and Julianna Guill all starring. Watch for more information on this new "hood" when our full set report hits later this year.
I love any mention of this film in the news section. I can't FUCKING wait for the full set report. I thought it was obvious as well about the hood. I'm just dying to see it.
korollocke don't be such a dumb ASS,Mr.Disgusting made it perfectly clear he is clearing it up cause a lot of dumbasses like yourself cannot process such complicated information
yep would be cool to see the pic. fo the hood.....i am happy to hear anything about this flick. i so cant wait for this one. i love reading new/old news on the remake. agree with u johnny.
Hey Jonny. How have you been? It's been a long time since our battles with Sauron. Haven't seen any post from him/her in a long time. I hope that Sauron is doing well. I am Hopeful that this new 13th. isn't a silly campy movie like the past few 13th. movies. I know with Nispel directing, there will be gallons of blood at the very least!
hmmm.....i was about to ask where Suaron has been.....i've kinda been keeping up w/ this remake& all the posts,&everything seems cool to me so far,but why are ppl pissed b/c Hodder isnt playing jason? i think it'll be fine...maybe he'll get a cameo,he needs to make up for showing up in that piece of dog sh*t "behind the mask".......awful movie.....
Sorry, not really relevent to current post lol.....maybe Jason will start off w/ the hood, and get the mask at some point in the movie like he did in part 3,i think fans are thinking he's just gonna be born w/ a fuc*ing hockey mask on....
The more Platinum Dunes talk about the "look" of Jason, I get more and more excited. I wonder if a line is forming outside the theaters like the nerds of Star Wars did in episode 1. Those nerds were in line a YEAR before the movie came out. Friday the 13th is totally better than fucking Star Wars by far.
Wow...a "star wars" comparison to a movie thats not even out and is a remake...ok....theres an old punk song by Discharge called "Free speech for the dumb",it should automatically be your theme song when you register here....lmao
Hello P. W. and PISSING LASERS. Remember you both from the Halloween blogs. Our old friend Sauron apparently does not care that they remake Friday the 13th or anything else. Only Halloween ruffled the feathers. That movie really hit a nerve. The Friday blogs are much tamer by comparison.
You guys spoog all over yourselves because of a hood(actually the mention of a hood, not even a pic of a hood.) and you call me a dumb ass???? That ranks up there with robert cummings(rob zombie) announcing he will be making an announcement in the future. Simply put this isn't big news any one who ever saw the friday series knows that a hockey mask and hood are all part of the show. Puting an eye hole in a cloth sack isn't a big acheivement in fx tech!
I would have typed this earlier but there was "spoog" on my keyboard so I had to clean it up. I hope they post that full set report soon along with fuller updating the PD page. I want to see more news on this instead of just clarifications. If anyone has a question on whats going on with this movie they can just look back at the archived news posts and PD Bulleting board. Lazy bastards.
I certainly hope this re-make fares better than Halloween 'o7 did. I lost interest after the first 20 mins of that one. The guy playing the Loomis character couldn't compare to Donald Pleasence & his remarkable work. However, I do keep an open mind & look forward to seeing what they do with the new Friday flick. I'd love to see Betsy Palmer in her greatest role again. Too bad the late Walt Gorney isn't available for "Crazy Ralph". I loved his "Messenger of God" rants. We should start a poll of the greatest horror movie deaths of all time. My pick, of course, would be Quint's demise in the movie "Jaws". That scene still gets to me after all these years. Can you imagine being that helpless knowing what was about to happen to you. Staring your mortality right into it's fathomless black eyes. Quint was a warrior & he went down fighting. RIP Robert, Roy, & Peter, from a true fan. Farewell & Adieu!!!
i thought it was common knowledge by now that both the hood & mask would be a part of this, but, i appreciate BD clearing up any confusion some people have. i don't know why some people get their panties in a bunch because the updates arent'"worth while". keep up the great work BD!!!
Whats up Jonny, been awhile....maybe they'll give Hodder the "crazy ralph" part,so he can his as* handed to him from the new Jason lol....just kidding....sort of...
korollocke you tried to explain why you are not a dumb ass by being even dumber? People getting (or not) excited over the hood has nothing to do with this article. IT IS ABOUT CLEARING IT UP FOR PEOPLE WHO THOUGHT THAT BY "HOOD" THEY MEANT NEIGHBORHOOD. Did that compute yet or do you need a Podcast with visual instructions to get it into your head?
this is great and know it has not been understood. The iconic mask was confirmed but nothing else. Quite frankly, i would have though that they would have no part of the potatoe sack at all, seeing as they now know that the mask is crazy popular and most "money" movie goers( your average joe, not like us) doesnt even know about the sack mask and maybe confused. I know it wont be on any promotional materal that for sure. So yea to some it up, and a hugh fan of the series and believer that remakes(remember Carpenter's The Thing & Cronenburg's The Fly ARE REMAKES !) Can still be well made films if they try alittle instead of just bank on the name and assume anything you put to celluoid will sell with only the previous franchises Title. Peace out!
I had hoped that he would wear both the bag and then the part 3 hockey mask as soon as it was announced Jason was in the remake as the main killer. I'm glad that it's not only the hockey mask and that they're doing something that the general public aren't familiar with. Only fans of the Friday the 13th series know that he wore the bag before the mask. At least this is something to look forward to. I always liked the bag look so I hope they don't f*ck it up with this new bag- if that's possible lol!
This blurb brought to you by Platinum Dunes--content controller for BD. Man, I love how robotic Mr. Disgusting sounds when all he's trying to tell us is that Nispel douche wrapped his film--but instead gives us a run-on sentence about who's starring in the film. Horrible. I hope Mr. Disgusting's next post is brought to us by some other production company he will shamelessly whore-out to us.
"VORHEES IN DA HOOD UP TO NO GOOD" YOU EXPECT ME TO GO ALONG WITH THE STATEMENT THAT PEOPLE REALLY EXPECTED THE NEW REDUX OF FRIDAY THE 13TH WOULD TAKE PLACE IN AN URBAN SETTING, THE HOOD AS CALL IT...THEN AGAIN SEEING THUGS, CRACK HEADS AND LOWLIFES TRYING TO DEAL WITH JASON WOULD BE COOL, I KNOW THIS WAS SORTA DONE IN TAKES MANHATTAN(MY CAPS KEY IS JAMMED,REALLY NEED TO BUY A NEW KEYBOARD)CYRSTAL LAKE COULD BE WHERE THEY SELL METH AND SUCH, BUT LEPRECAHN ALLREADY WENT THERE.
Listen up you sheep shit dipped placenta gargling shi shi boyz, no where in Mr. Disgustings intial comment where does he mention anything about confusion of the hood with a hood. So to mental giants who called me a dumb ass for my gripe for what was in my opinion,(all of us are entiled to our own opinions) a pointless post(even Mr. Disgusting was surprised he even had to post the detail!) KNOW WHAT FUCK YOUR TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!!!
No, korollocke there was initally confusion on the "hood" from a previous headline on this website.
See the comments posted about 2/3 of the way down the screen here starting with scooby71602:

Clearly there was confusion and Mr. D is trying to clarify that with this posting...Frankly, anyone who is not familiar with the fact that Jason originally wore a hood prior to the mask, has no business posting in a Friday the 13th forum IMO.

EXACTLY. Like i said, korollocke stop posting silly comments
Omfg ppl,the "new machete" will look like a fu*king machete calm the hell down!....and if i ever call ANYONE a "shi shi boy"i'll eat a bullet,a rainbow colored bullet, korollocke please feel free to post just dont be the topic douchebag.....you really dont want that title.....
That was funny "pissing lasers"! That is an undestatement. Sauron was venemous at times, but the passion for the original Halloween and the dislike of Rob Zombie were understood. I wish he/she were around to get in on the Friday stuff. I miss the venom.
Greetings night people, I think the hitchhiker guy from the original (and only) Texas Chainsaw Massacre '74, would be a perfect fit for "Crazy Ralph". I think he currently does voices & such right now. He'd be a great one to replace the late Walt Gorney. I could see him in the hat, vest, & riding that old rickety bike. On a goofy note, maybe Michael "Kramer" Richards would do it. Imagine him scaring Alice by popping out of the pantry door "Kramer style". "Oh man, if you stay here...well I don't have to tell you what could happen"---Kramer. Just a passing thought I wanted to share. Just got a dvd of "The Beast Within". pretty good 8o's creature flick. I saw it when I was about 8. Looking forward to seein' it again. Everyone keep the lights off & the screams guttural!!! "Hell or Heaven, if this is the night I was born for so be it"---The White Buffalo.
I have to agree wih the poster who said that Robert England would make a good Crazy Ralph. I can picture him with the outfit on. It would look right. Having said that though, I think alot of people on here take the term remake a little too literally. This is not a complete remake of the first, or the second or anything else. It's a hodgepodge of the first 4 films with new elements added in. Who would want to see an exact remake of an earlier film? What would be the purpose? Some of you are disappointed that Jason's mother isn't the killer. Why?? I like Jason, and couldn't care less about his mother. Jason is a quiet, brutal, hulking killing machine, and is more intimidating than a 140 lb. woman. I have no problem with her being a figure in the movie as it's necessary to tell the story of Jason, but she's not a badass killer.
Walt Gorney died on March 5, 2004 at the age of 91. He was one of my favs. Robert Shaw (Quint) & Donald Pleasance (Dr.Sam Loomis) are a couple of others. Not to mention Roy Scheider(Chief Brody). Actors like these are few & far between. They were so charismatic & intense. Robert Shaw was a very intense actor. Jaws would not have been the film it became if not for him. That Indianapolis speech is still captivating after all this time. I 've heard that Milius takes credit for that speech, but according to Carl Gottlieb (author of THE JAWS LOG) the writer of that speech is Robert Shaw. Dreyfuss remarked that sometimes you have to pretend that you're interested during a scene. He remarked that "when Robert told that story, I couldn't keep my eyes off him". Anyway, keep the lights out & the screams guttural!!! "To her it's simply another child...to us it is the Beast"----Poltergeist.
yeah,Shaw wrote that whole piece himself and it was placed into the script,I heard that they may be doing a whole movie about that whole U.S.S. Indianpolis incident, probably just net b.s.,but just imagine......
HOW COULD ANYONE BE THAT STUPID TO THINK JASON WOULD BE IN THE HOOD AND NOT WEARING ONE????????????????? HEARD HE WILL PROBABLLY KILL YOUNG PEOPLE IN IT TOO!!!!!
Gotta have the hood/bag then the mask...just wonder what the rest of the costume will look like...I'm kinda a big fan of the way he looked in parts 6,7 and 8.
G'day Livin' dead folks, I did hear of a possible Jaws film about the USS Indianapolis. I think there's an audience for it. Robert Shaw's son Ian would be perfect for his late father's role as a young Quint. Since Mr.Speilberg has sorta' gone back in a sense with the Indiana Jones flick, maybe a new Jaws adventure might interest him. There was a film called "Mission of the Shark" a few years back. I think it was a USA original t.v. thingy. If it's done right, I think it would be terrific. I could imagine an opening scene where you hear Shaw's voice, slowly fade in to the familiar scene in the Orca's cabin. After he explains where they were headed & all you could fade into a dark sky & see the Indy off in the distance, & at precise moments with just Shaw's voice in the background, he could sorta' narrate the movie as it goes along. Just some of my thoughts about that potential project. Anyway, keep the lights off & the screams guttural!!! Farewell & Adieu "You let him drown, you never paid any attention"----Friday the 13th.
Wuz up severed limbs, I think Jason's look in part 2 was the best as far as "without the mask" goes. It was strange how he sorta' mutated from a scrawny guy in a hood, into a tall muscular ghoul in a hockey mask. Parts 1-4 were my favorites in the series. There were parts of the "zombie" Jason flicks that I liked, but 1-4 will always be my favs. The novel of part 2 is an interesting read, if you can track down a copy. It tells how he watched his mother get killed & after Alice leaves in the canoe, he goes & picks up his mother's head and looks at it. Then he becomes enraged. Lots of other interesting info as well. I only have parts 1 & 2 in book form. There were others, but I believe they're out of print now. Let's hope the re-make is worth the wait. Anyway, keep the lights off & the screams guttural!!!! "You better do something about this one, because I don't intend to go through that hell again"----Jaws II.
I reckon Nipsel did a good job with the Texas Chainsaw remake. Hopefully he'll do the same here. It sounds as though he keeping it a little old school for fans, but with a fresh spin for the new generation.
A clown-dawg howdy, Speaking of re-makes, I thought Tom Savini's Night of the Living Dead was quite good. Tony Todd & Patricia Tallman were in that one. That guy that played Cooper was a real dip-shit. I'm glad Barbs gave em' a bullet 'tween the eyes. "The Thing" was another good one. That damn "Chair scene" is one of my favs. Caught "Sleepaway Camp" on IFC a few nights back. That's a weird-ass ending in that one. I saw that years ago. I remember my friend spitting out his popcorn when the frontal scene appeared. I never laughed so hard in my life. That same friend that after seeing "Pet Semetary", refused to walk home that night 'cause he thought Zelda might get him. What a chicken-shit!!! Ah, the good ol' days. Keep the lights out & the screams guttural!!! "I prayed that he would burn in hell, but in my heart, I knew that hell would not have him"---Halloween 5.
