Some funny stuff was discovered over at Paramount Home Entertainment's website regarding their future release of Sean Cunningham's classic Friday the 13th. Arriving on September 9th is a new release sporting a hilarious lenticular cover, while streeting on August 5th are both FRIDAY THE 13TH and FRIDAY THE 13TH PART II in "I Love the '80s" editions. And just a reminder that the full TV series arrives on September 23. Read on for a look at the cover art.
These are the two lenticular images on the new release...
I don't remember there being a mask in the first FRIDAY!
So aside from the ridiculous lenticular cover, what are the perks of this re-release? Is there any incentive to actually buying it? Can't find jack about it at the PHE website.
i would re buy the box set again, IF they put the ORIGINAL covers to the dvds on each individual movie (not two per disc) and i love all the original vhs covers that i grew up on seeing at the video store, there was nothing wrong with any of them, i thought most of the re-imaged covers for the new box set was kinda half assed on the part of paramount, these movies made that company so much money (when they spent very litttle to make or advertise them) yeah the bonus disc on the box set was kinda fun, but i wanna know more about each film not just a shit load of info on the first couple, im sure most the stars from these films would love the chance to be interviewed and talk about their times on the films, they did a little bit of that but not enough!
even if you dont buy the box set and buy the originals, most of the boxes for those are the re-imaged art too, new line put out the perfect freddy box set with the ORIGINAL art pieces for EACH dvd cover, now that's the kinda shit im talkin about...
id buy it with the orginal covers with the vhs cover too. and right with protecious i also grew up with seein the originals at the video store. arent the halloween dvd covers arent they the same as the vcr ones too? thats stupid to just to rebuy bc of the "new" covers. lol ya i think vh1 did have a part in that lol. only way id buy those is if there are special deleted scenes, deleted scenes, extended sendings etc. and from what i read from deadlover i pass. id rather either a. just buy the whole box set. 2. wait to see if they do ever add any new scenes or whatever in the future or closer to the f13th remake relase date. or c. just be happy with the vcr collection i allready have even though parts one threw four were taped from fx a few years ago whenever they were doing that marathon.
The "I Love the 80s" editions
"will include a four-song bonus CD with a-ha’s “Take on Me,” Echo & the Bunnymen’s “Lips Like Sugar,” INXS’ “Need You Tonight” and Erasure’s “Chains of Love.”"
Hmmm....I'm still hoping that when the remake comes out, that hopefully Paramount will sell their rights to the franchise to New Line, and then New Line will finally release an ultimate box set of the ENTIRE series with possible unrated cuts of the films. It's pretty sad to think that the only Friday film to get a "director's cut" edition is Jason Goes to Hell, which is the worst film in the series, but it does fare better with the added gore. But, anyway, here's hoping.
