Head on over to Yahoo! Movies and you can take a peak at the trailer for Paul W.S. Anderson's Death Race (set visit/interviews), which hits theaters August 22 from Universal Pictures. Jason Statham leads the cast of an action-thriller set in the post-industrial wasteland of tomorrow, with the world's most brutal sporting event as its backdrop. A penitentiary full of felons has inspired the jailers to create a grisly pastime ripe for lucrative kickbacks. Now, adrenalized inmates, a global audience hungry for televised violence and a spectacular arena come together to form the Death Race.
I am shocked! I actually throughly enjoyed that trailer, though I think thats mostly becuase Ian Mcshane could turn the worst of anything into gold.
Though it does seem to keep most of the thrill of the original intact, good old fashioned exploitation.
So...in efforts to "update" a movie about a violent "future," Welcome To The Jungle by Guns n Roses was the song you chose to sell this? Really? No other songs about a violent world exist?

it looks ok.. i mean after the trailer i feel like i basically watched the whole movie; we know that the people set him up to be put in jail for the race, so where is the excitement?
The excitement is in the contrived speculative spin on The Fast and the Furious and the chest beating male posturing that makes those who see this think that they are bona fide car aficionados.
Looks nothing like the original in any way other than shooting cars and explosions. I don't really need to see it now that I know just about EVERYTHING that happens.
While it may be a fun movie in its own way, they seem to have drained away every ounce of fun and what made the original a classic. Now please leave us with some good memories of older films.
I think this trailer looks pretty lame - It doesn't seem anything even remotely close to the original Deathrace 2000 and the plot of it being convicts wanting to win their freedom instead of just a brutal public race across the country where innocents are killed for points is extremely disappointing. I see comments regarding Twisted Metal...great..then make a Twisted Metal movie and leave any connection to the original alone. Not to mention that using Guns and Roses Welcome to the Jungle isn't timeless...it's safe and tame like this movie looks like it is going to be. I expect it to be a typically barely watchable Hollywood explosion movie , but because it's supposed to be a remake of a cult classic 70's exploitation film...it will suck balls.

and yes i looks like twisted metal but it still looks fun and fucking cool there has not been a movie like this in a while so it my not be sly stalone doing burnouts on a guys nuts ok so get over it this is going to be the fun movie of the summer and i hope it ha a R rateing so if is PG-13 u will get the unrated dvd later this year so get over it bunch of fucking crybaby's on this site
ya this looks nothing like the amazing deathrace 2000 but you have to admit it looks entertainging and fun and im pretty sure they said it was R rated, the early review said it was decent except for alot of scenes being shot very close and fast which could make people sick, but im defiently seenin it just because its deathrace
