Yesterday Platinum Dunes updated their official page with your very first look at the sign from Camp Crystal Lake! In addition, you can read producer Brad Fuller's update about the filming, which is underway until this Friday in Texas. Jason Voorhees is slated to return to theaters in Friday the 13th on February 13, 2009. Click here to read the cast and crew's Crystal Lake memories or here for our exclusive set visit preview. Don't forget to go leave your comments under the sign as Platinum Dunes will be reading your feedback.
It's not just a Camp Crystal Lake sign-it's a sign that Platinum Dunes, New Line and Paramount are committed to giving us the F13 we've been waiting for. February can't come soon enough!
I hope they do this justice. I'll definately go see it when it's out. I'm a little disappointed that Mrs. Voorhees is not the killer like the original, but I'm open minded enough to see what they come up with and hopefully be pleasantly surprised.
If you weirdos are going this crazy over a sign, I can't imagine the number of shitbricks that will hit the floor when an actual picture of Jason hits the interwebz.
This goes well with the picture of a cop car with Crystal Lake written on it. I wonder what they will show next with Crystal Lake written on it. I wait with baited breath.
Oh my God. That is so....incredibly...exciting so it must be important and in yellow on the front page. Wow, I sure love seeing pictures of signs. That said, I don't think this remake will be a total disaster.
Some of you guys are going to be disappointed when you grow up and realize that unless you're willing to run for office or play seedy clubs full of drunks, you can't make a decent living being a smart ass. Yes, it's just a sign. No, a sign isn't that exciting. However, any sign (literal or otherwise) that this will be a real FRIDAY THE 13TH film in the spirit of the early entries is exciting to the die-hard fans, and this qualifies on that front. So pardon us if we get a little stoked over something that normal folks would find mundane. If we were normal, we wouldn't be hardcore F13 fans in the first place.
I just got my first paycheck as a smart ass this week. And just in time too, I thought that my comments on Bloody-disgusting news items were going unappreciated.
Oh, and don't assume that I don't want to see the movie just because I'm making smart ass remarks.
I quite enjoy F13 movies, and have no problem with this remake, since each movie is pretty much just a remake of the last one.
So... we're just putting ANYTHING from Platinum Dunes in yellow lettering eh? A fucking sign? The year before this comes out may turn me off the fuckin' movie from oversaturation. A fucking sign? Let's not all pretend we care.
I dont think the point is that it's a sign. I think the point is that it looks just like the sign from the original. It just helps show that they are trying to please the fans. I give them props. I like all the Jason movies, cheese and all. Yes I even Like Jason Goes to Hell, and Jason X. I think these guys are gonna make a kick ass friday movie and I for one can't wait.
Can anybody add any fuckin debate or comments about the movie instead of just commenting about "The Sign". "YES"!! We know it's a fuckin sign. "How bout the movie" ??? Am I on "Tard City"??? And just what the fuck is "PERDUCTION".
awesome! i guess this is what the big surprise is going to be? i thought that we see something like a pic of the new jason or something....even if it is just a sign i cant wait for this one! i hope that the remake does the original justice.
Actually, Jonny Horror, a few of us did make comments about the film, stemming from this sign image. Unfortunately, some folks would rather continue talking about how unexciting a picture of a sign is and missing the point of this update completely. But, for the sake of the slow and perpetually constipated, I'll try and clarify again. A)This literal sign is another figurative sign that this movie will be true to the look and feel of the classic FRIDAY THE 13TH films of the '80s, B)it comes straight from the production company itself and is therefore part of the official marketing campaign, C)it's related to the most anticipated horror release of 2009, and D)it's an image from the first Jason film in 6 years and the first film to be called "FRIDAY THE 13TH" in 20 years. In short, YES, anything from Platinum Dunes relating to this FRIDAY THE 13TH is likely to go up on the main page, no matter how trivial, and that's exactly the way it should be. All of those factors listed above make updates like this one newsworthy, and worthy of being in yellow lettering on the main page (as though the editor of this site actually has to justify such decisions in the first place). I'd also like to add that I want to see Jason, the mask, etc., too. However, by actually READING the headline of the post before clicking on it, I was able to avoid getting myself all worked up believing that this particularly news item might reveal those things.
haha i know right, i was hoping for like a preview or maybe see jason himself! but this is just as cool too i guess, yay sign altho it is all good, anyways i hope to see more whenever new images come!
Agreed JKROUSKOP. Any picture will be news. There is much anticipation.
RUSHNMUTT ?? WOW. A little harsh don'tcha think using the "N" word ??
Racial slurs are NEVER cool to use in any forum, my opinion. I guess that would be freedom of speech.
Jesus, is this what we have become; getting all worked up over a sign. The people who are actually excited to see this movie will like it - because they are too young to have seen the original, they have just seen all the shitty sequels. So this new remake will look good to them. The original had great scenes of building fear and tension before the kill, and Jason's mom was the killer. Which was cool too because you didn't expect the killer to be a woman. And it had a great shocker ending. The sequels were just bloody kills just for the fuck of it, with big Jason as the killer who had a very scary face that was mostly covered up by that stupid mask. One last thing; that sign can go fuck itself.
Did someone just say that a sign is indication this will be a throw back to the earlier installments that were good? Freddy vs Jason also had a sign that said "Crystal Lake" and that was nothing like the original. Sorry, no sale.
Ya know why an image of A SIGN is important. Becasue it means that this film is actually happening. Its proof that we are actually geting another Friday the 13th movie.
Oh hi, what are you doin' out in this mess? Just an idea, I think it would be cool if the month prior to the new film's release, they'd re-release parts 1-4 on the big screen. That would introduce the younger generation to the films & wet the appetite for the true fans out there as well. Parts 1-4 are my favs anyway. Seeing them on the big screen again would be teriffic. Release part 1 the first week, part 2 the second, ect. Keep the lights out & the screams guttural. "Jason was my son, & today is his birthday"----Friday the 13th.
