Veteran British horror director Anthony Hickox revealed today that his popular 1988 horror flick Waxwork is being prepped for a remake. “The guy who owns the rights to it is dying to remake it, but he doesn’t get along with one of the other producers from the original,” the director tells Fango. “However, I’m sure they will work something out. If they do that, it still needs to be campy - and the mummy would have to move a lot faster than it did in mine! If they do get it going, my only request is to do a cameo appearance.” In the original starring Zach Galligan (Gremlins), a wax museum owner uses his horror exhibits to unleash evil on the world.
I loved this movie! I enjoyed it's sequel too. To me these films rank up there with Dekker's Monster Squad. EVen if it's direct to DVD or just cable I'd look forward to it.
waxwork was the sh*t when i was a kid. need to rewatch it before the remake. just in case it sucks and ruins waxwork for me. you know how remakes are they are really good are really really bad. as always i am hoping for the best.
I know, it's sad. The vampire scene was always my favorite, and was pretty 80s. I remember the white bathroom tiles on the walls in that one room with the guy who had his leg gnawed off. That whole room was pure white. It was really surrealistic, in a creepy way. Very 80s. I don't think you can duplicate that nowadays.
Hell Yeah!! This movie was awesome when I was a kid and I was excited to get them both on one disc a couple years ago. I think these are the kind of movies they should be remaking. Not ones everyone has seen 100 times like Friday or Nightmare, but awesome movies that most people have not gotten to see.
never seen this one so have to add it to my netflix list....would be cool if Zach Galligan would have a cameo or something in it. to me it seems like you never hear anything new from him. wonder if he is still even acting.
