Although this is the first we've heard of it, Regent Releasing announced an August 22 release date for CTHULHU. Directed by Dan Gildark, the film stars Jason Cottle, Scott Patrick Green, Cara Buono, Tori Spelling and Robert Padilla. Adapted from a story by H.P. Lovecraft. A Seattle history professor, drawn back to his estranged family on the Oregon coast to execute his late mother's estate, is reaquainted with his best friend from childhood, with whom he has a long-awaited tryst. Caught in an accelerating series of events, he discovers aspects of his father's New Age cult which take on a dangerous and apocalyptic significance.

Tori Spelling and H.P. Lovecraft. They go together like John Waters and Margaret Thatcher. Or for you younger people - like Abigale Breslin and Marylyn Manson. You know what I mean - shit just don't go together! Fuck I just swore.

I've heard about this for over a year now and I still scratch my head and say...Tori Spelling?!?!

Yeah, adapting Lovecraft and casting Spelling should be an arrestable offense.

I'm a big fan of the cthulhu mythos. On the other hand its hard to get really excited about this knowing that tori spelling is in it. Maybe its just me but when i hear her name i assume its gonna be a load of shit.

A Lovecraft adaptation and the only recognizable name in the cast is Tori Spelling? What the hell is going on?

Being a gay man, I was kinda excited about a gay adaptation of Cthulhu. However, the trailer doesnt make it look very interesting. http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi77594905/ For me, the only exciting thing about this film IS Tori Spelling. She won me over as a self-deprecating cult diva with her roles in House of Yes and So Notorious. Anyways, Cthulhu is playing at Frameline.org LGBT film fest in SF this month. If i see it, I'll post a review. I'm definitely checking out Bruce LaBruce's new gay zombie movie "Otto, or Up with Dead People"

Apparently this movie is not for Lovecraft fans. I've read a lot about it and apparently it mainly focuses on the gay aspects, and not the sea monsters. I believe at one point two male friends jerk each other off under a peer at sunrise...... Not really my cup of tea. So disappointed, when I saw the banner with the word 'Cthulhu' I thought maybe we'd have a good adaption of the original story. Oh well.

I'm not getting why this became a gay movie? how is Lovecraft's story gay? who has sex with whom to create the sea creatures? Why can't it be just a movie. It's okay if some of the charactors happen to be gay, but === is it a GAY movie or is it a horror/suspense/terror/thriller? or is it a sex movie for gays? or.... I'll go if it's just a straight-ahead movie with some charactors who happen to be gay, but not if it's a gay sex movie. eww.
